As I was dozing on my couch, a voice called out to me, reminding me that I was going to be late for tea. In my hand was a double chain pendant with a crystal dream key hanging from the end. Opening my eyes between dream and reality, I saw the sparkling smile of the Cheshire Cat whose blue eyes stared at me intensely. Emerging from my sleep, I then realized that the key was still in front of me in the form of a beautiful Swarovski pendant!!!
To celebrate the release of Tim Burton’s film « Alice in Wonderland », Swarovski, the leading manufacturer of cut crystal, has teamed up with Disney Consumer Products to launch a collection of crystal jewelry inspired by the main characters in Wonderland. What to go through the mirror by wearing these jewels from the fantasy world imagined by Tim Burton!
Some of the characters wear the jewelry in the film. Alice, played by Mia Wasikowska, wears the « Sparrow » pendant made up of a fine chain with round links plated in pinkish gold metal framing a magnificent cut crystal in the color of Smoked Topaz, in the center of which a small swallow is drawn. This pendant is the flagship piece of the collection designed by Swarovski.
The Red Queen, played by Helena Bonham Carter, inspired jewelry in the shape of hearts or in the spirit of playing cards (clover..) among which a splendid ring in the shape of hollowed out hearts made of Dark Siam colored crystals in Pointiage™ and ruthenium plated ring.
The Mad Hatter, aka Johnny Depp, has put a spell on us with his « charms » found in necklaces and matching bracelets with spools of blue, green, pink and white epoxy wire covered with clear Pointiage™ crystals. At the end of the necklace, a pair of scissors with mini clear crystals remind us of its dark side.
As for the famous « Cheshire Cat » and « White Rabbit », they won’t leave our necks in the form of a pendant made of multicolored mini Pointiage™ crystals applied to blue and black epoxy for one and a rabbit head, trumpet and watch made of crystal-paved epoxy for the other.
The no less famous tea scene has not been forgotten in the form of three other pendants, one with a teapot and a cup, the second with a cake and a spoon and the third representing a cake sprinkled with candy. All elements are made of white or beige epoxy, pink, clear or Golden Shadow crystals.
The decor of the film using the 3D technique is not left out since Swarovski pays tribute to it through a specific line called « Flower Garden ».
Available from March 2010, the « Alice in Wonderland » collection will be sold exclusively in Swarovski boutiques.
So run quickly to the Swarovski stores or you will be late for tea!
