The invitation set the tone, this parade will be set in the forest and one of its favorite inhabitants: Bambi. Well, it was, but it was more of an intrusion into the world of medieval fairy tales with a modern princess in sequins whose companion is a fawn named Bambi, modern knights in armor and horses straight out of Peau d’Âne. Impression confirmed by the musical atmosphere of French Horn Rebellion and its version of « Once Upon a time ».
Once upon a time in the world of fashion, a designer named Jean-Charles de Castelbajac decided to tell us, through his Fall 2010-2011 collection, the story of Lady Godiva, a princess of high fashion. The designer has chosen to present us with no less than 55 feminine and masculine silhouettes in order to show us the court of this furiously modern princess.
He first chooses to present us the castle through models with classic cuts (bloomer, suit, pants, coat) in print « Coventry Stone » whose pattern seems to be inspired by the stone of castle. The following models, more classical and sober, are also the occasion to propose the first reindeer antlers headbands of the collection. The designer offers Perfectors, Castelbajacquian version of the leather Perfecto, worn hooded or better with a full helmet, helmet knights that is reminiscent of helmets used for ski jumping.
Very quickly the Castelbajac style takes its rights, the mini dress in sequin is proposed to us in rib knit, with gold and black sequins like a knight’s armor, the coats in woolen cloth are multiplied and adorned with red chips, straps and zipper. The armor dress is adorned with Scarab epaulette.
Finally Lady Godiva appears, a woman with vaporous hair, and is declined under different variations. Often wearing a headband made of deer or reindeer antlers, she is always talking about her companion Bambi, borrowed from the Disney universe. Strapless dress, silk caftan, suit, cashmere sweater and sequinned dress Bambi Warhol or sheath dress Bambi in the dark, the fawn is everywhere, in more discreet touches on some shoulders or even in shoes, although the high boot and thigh-high boots seem to be the favorite pieces of the designer.
The tailors are even proposed to us in tapestry which one would believe straight out of the Manufacture of Gobelins, tapestry which one also finds on bags.
The color is very present, as for its retro-futuristic red boleros quilted in goose feather or these black velvet pieces adorned with colored leather inserts. Yellow, red, green, and ultra-deep electric blue complete a dominant velvet black.
Finally a wink to Peau d’Âne is proposed to us through the final Space Bikers.
Once upon a time there was Lady Godiva and Jean-Charles de Castelbajac made her the first modern woman. And it is a success!
