The Taj Mahal
The Taj Mahal, one of the New Seven Wonders of the World, is a white marble monument built by the Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan in the 17th century. The greatest architects designed this veritable jewel, built by the finest workers and craftsmen from Persia, Europe and the Ottoman Empire. To pay tribute to this exceptional monument, La Monnaie de Paris has teamed up with Maison Cartier to create a unique one-kilo gold collector’s coin featuring the Taj Mahal’s harmonious shapes, elegant lines and rich decorations.
Each piece is a true artistic feat, thanks to the skill of the master engravers at La Monnaie de Paris: the fine contours of the Taj Mahal are magnificently rendered in the minting process carried out in the special workshop dedicated to precious metals. Cartier’s Haute Joaillerie workshops add the final touch to this work of art with a highly precise setting of 68 diamonds on the monument’s dome.
All these precious objects are presented in a unique reproduction by Maison Goyard, a trunk-maker since 1853, and a recognized and sought-after supplier to the greatest, notably the Maharajas in their heyday.
TAJ MAHAL
Unique features This one-kilo piece is made of 999‰ gold. It has a diameter of 85 millimeters. Its face features a perspective of the Taj Mahal, with its long, tree-lined basin and the word RF in a specific reflection-like treatment. The face value is 5,000 euros. The reverse features the UNESCO building, its logo and the year 2010. 68 diamonds, totalling +/- 0.52 carats, cover the dome of the Taj Mahal. This spectacular Taj Mahal piece, in belle épreuve quality, is produced in a limited edition of 29. It is presented in a unique reproduction by Maison Goyard, a trunk-maker since 1853.
