Champagne Drappier creates a bottle made to measure

The philosophy that has guided the Maison Auboise for many years to produce wines of high expression, close to nature, has now found its culmination in its ultimate container: THE BOTTLE.
The efforts made in the vineyard, in organic and sustainable viticulture, in order to produce healthy grapes rich in aromas had to be respected. All the work done in the cellar to create natural, elegant and expressive wines should be honored. The motivation for this creation is oenological. The idea is to protect the quality of the champagne until the consumer’s table by offering a maximum guarantee.
To do this, Michel Drappier was guided by 5 elements:
– Dark brown glass color that filters 100% of U.V. rays. No risk of light taste.
– A thinner neck with a diameter that reduces contact with oxygen by 17%. Drappier low-sulfur champagnes are thus better protected. They keep their freshness.
– The shoulder of the bottle is more rounded, it allows a better sliding of the deposit during the stirring operations. The wine will be all the more limpid and brilliant.
– Following the sustainable logic of the house, the first in Champagne to be accredited Carbon Zero, the percentage of recycled glass has been increased to the maximum, i.e. 90%.
– To guarantee the origin of the production, the words CHAMPAGNE and DRAPPIER are moulded in the bottom of the bottle. Each bottle is authentic.
Designed by Michel Drappier in 2013 and developed by French glassmaker Saver-Glass, a specialist in high-end bottles, the new Drappier bottle already houses all of the house’s wines except for the Grande Sendrée cuvée, which keeps its original silhouette. It will gradually appear in wine shops from the end of 2016 and more widely in 2017.
