Glamour is always and again an integral part of the Cannes Festival and seems to have been invited to the most awaited evening at the beginning of the Festival: the awarding of the prestigious Chopard Trophy rewarding the young talents of cinema.
Since 2001, Chopard has been encouraging two talents from the young generation of cinema by naming them Female Revelation and Male Revelation of the Year. As a leading partner of the Cannes Film Festival, the watch and jewelry company is actively contributing to the event’s artistic influence and affirming its support for cinematographic creation. The Trophy, for its part, is a true architectural jewel and pays full tribute to the strongest symbol of cinema in the form of a ribbon of film, finely crafted by the hands of the company’s master jewelers. This Trophy was the brainchild of Caroline Gruosi-Scheufele, Co-President and Creative Director of Chopard: « Cinema has always been one of my passions. There is a fabulous synergy between our two worlds. On the one hand, the creation of beautiful jewels and on the other, the creation of unforgettable films « . To honor this trophy, she wore a necklace from the Animal World collection in white gold, diamonds and amethyst.
For its 10th edition, the Chopard Trophy has rewarded Liya Kebede for her role in the film Desert Flower and Edward Hogg, excellent in White Lightnin. In the presence of Caroline Gruosi-Scheufele, co-president of Chopard, Gilles Jacob, President of the Cannes Festival and the actress Helen Mirren, godmother of the edition, the winners were awarded their trophies. Helen Mirren wore on this occasion an impressive diamond and Kunzite necklace and a sapphire ring highlighting her Elie Saab dress.
Liya Kedebe has walked the runway for some of the world’s top fashion designers and has been featured on the cover of many international fashion magazines. She is also the WHO Ambassador for Maternal and Child Health and was named in May 2010 by Time magazine as one of the 100 most influential people in humanitarian work. Sherry Hormann’s Desert Flower chronicles the life of model Waris Dirie from her native desert in Somalia to her rise to the international runway and, most importantly, her experience with circumcision.
Edward Hogg is the British revelation of the year 2010 by the jury of Shooting Stars. In two films, he was able to make a name for himself and show his richness of play. He appeared several times in secondary roles in various British productions such asIrresistible Alfie or Brothers of the Head. For the first time in a leading role, Edward Hogg plays the tortured Appalachian dancer prone to following his inner demons, Jesco White in Dominic Murphy’s White Lightnin’.
After the awards ceremony, everyone joined the terrace of the Chopard Lounge, located on the top floor of the Martinez hotel, for an exclusive and very glamorous evening. Among the guests were Jean-Marc Barr, member of the 2010 Chopard Trophy Jury, Italian actresses Laura Chiatti and Moran Attias, and French actress Aissa Maiga. Aissa, looking very beautiful in her Sergio Rossi blue satin gladiator sandals, had chosen a beautiful pair of diamond and gemstone earrings ending with white and black pearls from the South Sea. The sublime diamond ring « Toi & Moi » completed a stunning outfit.
From 11pm, the guests enjoyed the musical atmosphere of the American actress and DJ Michelle Rodriguez who never left the decks until the end of the night. The actress also honored Chopard by wearing two platinum and diamond necklaces and a platinum and diamond ring as bracelets.
