The Chevalier du Ch\u00e2teau Lagr\u00e9zette comes from the Caillac vineyard, located on the third terraces of the Lot with a predominantly gravel-clay soil. With warm summers and an Indian summer, the Terroir of Caillac presents the ideal conditions for a perfect ripening of the king grape variety, the Malbec. It allows to keep a nice freshness to the wines.<\/h5>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

For the 2016 vintage, weather conditions were marked by two distinct and opposite periods:
\n– The first period, with a very cool spring, a low average temperature and numerous rains that led to a late start in vegetation.
\n– The second period, with a sunny and warm summer but cool nights, allowed a slow maturation of the grapes while preserving their aromatic potential and their acidity.<\/h5>\n
For 2016, production was very low but it remains one of the best vintages ever produced since 2011. The 2016 Ch\u00e2teau Lagr\u00e9zette Chevalier is the result of a blend of 77% Malbec and 23% Merlot. The vines are about 25 years old. After a manual harvest the grapes are sorted, the cold maceration lasts 4 to 7 days, two daily punchings are made to extract the color, the fat and the fruit. The alcoholic fermentation starts with the punching of the cap. A final maceration completes the vinification process before being put into barrels. The wine is then aged for a minimum of 12 months in oak barrels (10% new wood, 50% one-wine barrels and 40% two-wine barrels) The 2016 Ch\u00e2teau Lagr\u00e9zette Chevalier reveals a dark red color.<\/h5>\n
The powerful nose reveals floral notes (violet) as well as aromas of very ripe red fruits like cherry, fig and blackberry. In the mouth, the wine has a supple attack, on the fruit, with a great structure and a beautiful elegance. This wine is characterized by its balance with an ample, powerful but velvety mouth and with a very beautiful length.<\/h5>\n
