French whisky is no longer defined merely by the idea of a local alternative to Scottish or American references. It is now measured by its ability to choose its lineage without imitating it. With Arlett Kentucky, the Tessendier distillery works on this point of balance through a finish in Kentucky casks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The aromatic promise is explicit: vanilla, coconut, banana and caramel, the pastry register associated with American casks. But the liquid claims another origin for its craft: malted barley, double distillation, ageing and finishing carried out in Charente. The aim is therefore not to make a bourbon under another name, but to let the influence of a cask alter the contours of a French single malt.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The cask as a line of tension<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Arlett states an ageing of more than four years in new American oak casks and bourbon casks, followed by six months in Kentucky casks. The bottle is bottled at 42%, without cold filtration or added caramel. These choices outline a whisky<\/a> that seeks the presence of wood without giving up the grain.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The mention \u201cbourbon style\u201d should be understood for what it describes: an intensity and a gourmand quality, not an appellation. The word matters because it recalls that whisky categories are not interchangeable. Here, American vocabulary becomes a reference of texture and taste, reworked from Charente.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A bottle for the table as much as for the collection<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Available since September from wholesalers, through the on-trade network and from partner wine merchants, Arlett Kentucky is announced at \u20ac39.90 for 70 cl. A box of three 20 cl formats also brings together the house blend, this Kentucky finish and a finish in a Pineau des Charentes cask.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This positioning remains accessible, but the proposition is not neutral: it makes finishing time a tool of composition. The result will have to be judged in the glass. On paper, Arlett Kentucky advances a sound idea: in French whisky, borrowing is of interest only when it makes a signature sharper.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
