A d\u00e9cor conceived like a collection<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

At 32 Raadhuisstraat, in the historic centre of Amsterdam, Karl Lagerfeld<\/a> has chosen to open its first address devoted exclusively to dining. Nothing in the place recalls a clothing store: brushed metal, natural stone, raw concrete and reflective surfaces make up a strictly monochrome palette, the very one the House deployed for its FUTURE LEGACY store concept, inaugurated on Regent Street in London. The caf\u00e9 is therefore not an addition but a variation: the architectural grammar of the boutique applied to the space of the counter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Pastry as a language<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The menu has been entrusted to Pantopia, an Amsterdam pastry workshop founded by Youssef Zyat, known for a seasonal, contemporary approach to sweetness. Around the speciality coffee, the House has built a broader space of curation: a selection of books, collectors’ objects, accessories and the signature white shirt \u2014 a recurring piece of the Karl Lagerfeld wardrobe \u2014 coexists with the tables. The address does not sell a garment; it offers a way of inhabiting the label’s universe without going through the purchase of a fashion piece.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The packaging designed for the caf\u00e9 reproduces, in drawing, the fa\u00e7ade of 21 rue Saint-Guillaume in Paris \u2014 the House’s historic address. The graphic gesture carries Parisian identity right into the hand of the Amsterdam customer, on a simple pastry bag.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A strategy of presence rather than sales<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe wanted to create a place where one can connect to Karl’s universe in a new way, beyond fashion,\u201d sums up Pier Paolo Righi, CEO of Karl Lagerfeld. The formula is borne out by the operation’s calendar: from early August to mid-September 2026, a showroom adjoining the caf\u00e9 will host a pop-up presenting a selection of the House’s collections, including seasonal pieces and signature models. The caf\u00e9 thus becomes the entry point of a broader commercial set-up, without ever looking like one.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The opening coincided with the visit to Amsterdam of Paris Hilton, the House’s ambassador, who came to rehearse and perform at Amsterdam Pride 2026. Her visit to the caf\u00e9, documented by the House, works as an informal validation of the place rather than as an event in itself \u2014 a sign that Karl Lagerfeld is building around this address an ecosystem of appearances rather than announcements.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Open seven days a week, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Karl Lagerfeld Caf\u00e9 remains, for now, a single address. The House does not say whether the concept will be replicated elsewhere. That is perhaps the most interesting question this Amsterdam counter raises: how far can a fashion label advance into the daily life of its followers before having to choose between remaining a garment and becoming a place to live?<\/p>\n\n\n\n
