Dressing without rules: this is the promise, almost childlike in its wording, carried by Tangoli with its new collection Soft Riot — A Romantic rave. A promise that, at this young Parisian house founded by Alessandra Donato, is not a slogan but an entire working method, built around deadstock and upcycling.

The collection was born, says the brand, as a game: rewriting garments and the stories of fabrics. Light lace mixed with bright colours, transparencies and layers that make up ever-changing combinations — a collage built directly on the body. The result embraces imperfection: a lived-in romanticism that oscillates between delicacy and a rebellious desire to dare, an intimate rave made of details, overlaps and small gestures. Getting dressed, at Tangoli, becomes a creative act again — trying, mixing, making mistakes, playing.

This vocabulary of play and trial and error contrasts with the usual discourse of responsible fashion, often built on constraint and the scarcity of available fabric. Tangoli chooses another path: treating the limit of deadstock as a joyful creative principle rather than a deprivation to be borne, joining in this other young Parisian houses that make material constraint a language rather than a sales argument.

The fact that each piece is shaped in a Parisian workshop or entrusted to local artisans rather than to offshore production reinforces this consistency between discourse and method: at Tangoli, the traceability of the gesture seems to matter at least as much as that of the fabric itself. It is also what distinguishes a house of this format from a mere capsule label: the promise of a wardrobe built piece by piece, at the pace of what the workshop finds, rather than at the pace imposed by a classic commercial calendar.

Behind this aesthetic lies a precise discipline. Each piece comes either from couture houses’ deadstock or from upcycled garments, reimagined with intention in the brand’s Parisian workshop or by local artisans. The fluid silhouettes, delicate details and soft tones are meant as a direct response to the strength and grace of the women who wear them — an elegance conceived as natural rather than constructed.

But Tangoli does not stop at the finished dress. The brand also runs upcycling workshops, where it shares its method with a community, in the hope — the expression is its own — of inspiring a more thoughtful and more creative way of dressing. A way of turning an act of salvage into a tool of transmission, rather than a mere marketing argument.

The very name of the collection, Soft Riot, condenses this tension between softness and rebellion that runs through the brand’s whole proposition. A rave, by definition, is lived in the moment and in excess; Tangoli keeps its collective energy and freedom of movement, but brings it back to an intimate, almost domestic scale, that of a Parisian workshop where each piece is still shaped by hand rather than mass-produced.

What Soft Riot ultimately tells is the possibility of a discreet rebellion: one that throws nothing away, produces no more than necessary, and finds in the leftovers of others the material for a new story. A rave without excess, in short — just enough disorder to stay alive, and enough method to last beyond a single season.
