Le Comptoir du Ritz Paris broadens its gourmet vocabulary with a first permanent collection of chocolates. The interest lies less in the abundance of references than in the way the House transposes its signs \u2014 coat of arms, Madeleine, bellboy \u2014 into highly codified edible forms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The new repertoire is made up of several families rather than a single piece. The chocolate bonbons exist in dark and milk hazelnut praline, as well as in white chocolate coconut praline. Their surface bears the letter of the Ritz Paris, while the marshmallow bears extend the bellboy motif already associated with Le Comptoir. Six bears, coated in dark or milk chocolate, are offered in a box of eighty-four grams.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The bars are more interesting from the point of view of construction. The milk chocolate version combines caramel ganache, caramel sauce and fleur de sel; the dark chocolate one combines hazelnut praline and caramel. Each bar weighs fifty-five grams. The tablets, of one hundred and seventy grams, take a hazelnut praline heart under a Madeleine relief, another sign of the Ritz Paris Le Comptoir repertoire.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The most demonstrative piece remains the Cam\u00e9e. Its mould reproduces the coat of arms of the Ritz Paris; the dark chocolate coating encloses an almond praline dotted with caramelised almond pieces. At one hundred and eighty grams, it is also one of the largest formats in the collection. The range is completed by a chocolate-hazelnut spread of two hundred and twenty grams.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The pricing structure confirms a desire to make chocolate an accessible, but tightly controlled, extension of the Palace’s universe: twenty euros for ten ingots, thirty-two euros for twenty, eighteen euros for six bears, twenty-five euros the tablet, sixteen euros the bar, forty-nine euros the Cam\u00e9e and twenty-four euros fifty the spread. The whole range is available year-round at both Le Comptoir addresses, rue Cambon and rue de S\u00e8vres.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What is at stake here therefore goes beyond simple pastry diversification. The Ritz Paris is gradually turning its visual signs into reproducible objects \u2014 Madeleine, bellboy, coat of arms \u2014 capable of circulating outside the hotel. It remains to be seen how far this grammar can extend without losing the precision that today makes the difference between a Palace souvenir and a true object of taste.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
