A unique piece for a specific cause<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

For its participation in the Watches for ELA charity auction, organised by ELA International (European Leukodystrophy Association), Frederique Constant has created a one-off version of its new Classic Worldtimer Manufacture, fitted with the FC-719 movement. For the first time, the piece appears with a cherry-red dial and a bezel set with 70 diamonds. The sale, conducted by Christie’s, will take place on 9 November 2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Leukodystrophies are a group of rare genetic diseases that affect the myelin of the central nervous system; ELA International has for several decades funded research into these conditions and support for the families concerned, which gives the sale a reach that goes beyond the watchmaking circle alone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A long-standing commitment<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

This cause is part of the house’s history: since 2009, Frederique Constant has supported organisations active in the health field, in recognition of the work of professionals and researchers. According to Niels Eggerding, the brand’s CEO, the signature \u201cLive Your Passion\u201d celebrates those who put their passion, altruism and commitment at the service of causes that make a difference, and the partnership with ELA aims to advance research and give hope back to families affected by leukodystrophies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Classic Worldtimer Manufacture gives a simultaneous, real-time reading of twenty-four reference time zones, a technical complication that requires a movement capable of synchronising several displays without drift between them. The FC-719 movement also benefits from an optimised power reserve, raised from 38 to 72 hours compared with the previous generation of the calibre \u2014 a substantial gain that brings the piece closer to the standards expected of a high-end manufacture.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The cherry-red dial and the 70-diamond bezel form an aesthetic choice markedly bolder than what the brand usually offers in its catalogue, reserved here for a one-of-a-kind piece sold at auction rather than a commercial series. The press release mentions no price estimate, which is consistent for a charity lot whose value will be built on the day of the sale under Christie’s hammer, but also leaves open the question of whether this aesthetic experiment, judged strong enough to carry a cause, will one day migrate to a commercial line accessible to the brand’s customers.
