Maison Buccellati’s Caviar collection is expanded with a complete cutlery service, two caviar bowls of different sizes and a bread plate. The microsphere motif, which comes from jewellery, no longer marks only the moment of the caviar. It spreads to the rest of the meal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On the silver, a constellation of small hand-shaped spheres. The effect recalls the grain of caviar, and the design finds its logic there: the surface of the object quotes what it is meant to carry. Caviar spoons, trays, plates, ice buckets, Murano glassware, flutes: the House has applied this motif to everything surrounding the service of the dish.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The new pieces shift this boundary. A complete cutlery service is nothing like a ceremonial piece; it is used from one end of the meal to the other. The bread plate, for its part, has no link with caviar. By adding it, Buccellati moves its motif from the ritual of a single dish to the entire table. The two caviar bowls, for their part, complete the original repertoire.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The design was not born at the table. The sphere has long featured in the House’s jewellery and silverware. Andrea Buccellati reinterpreted it for this collection from an original drawing, as with every Buccellati creation. Next comes the making of a “crown” of silver microspheres, which gives the motif its form and carries it from one piece to the next. The House places one of its most accomplished expressions in the Crat\u00e8re delle Muse<\/em> (1981), by Gianmaria Buccellati: a cup in silver, gold, jade and sapphires, a unique piece from the Oggetti Preziosi collection, now held by the Gianmaria Buccellati Foundation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In its press release, the House states that each element of the new series is made using traditional manual silversmithing techniques, and that it designs these objects to be used and handed down. A relief of microspheres on a fork or a bread plate is handled and washed, which is the real test of a motif conceived for jewellery. Buccellati is today 100% owned by Richemont, with the Buccellati family retaining management roles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The motif found its logic with caviar. Its longevity will be decided on a bread plate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
