For spring-summer 2027, Weinsanto chooses not a theme but a declaration: Audace. Zebra, leopard, reptile, the collection parades a bestiary that overlaps, metamorphoses and takes on relief, without ever resorting to animal skin.

A word that sounds like a declaration

Some collections announce themselves through an inspiration, others through a place. Weinsanto’s for spring-summer 2027 announces itself through a word, “Audace”, and through three sentences that give its instructions for use: the boldness of being seen, the boldness of being desired, the boldness of never apologising for taking up space.

The Weinsanto woman, according to the press release, appears fierce, sensual and free. She embraces colour, volume and excess, with that lightness which, it is said, belongs uniquely to the House. The tone is set: this is not a wardrobe that asks permission.

A bestiary that overlaps

The common thread is animal. Zebra, leopard, reptile: the prints meet, overlap and metamorphose from silhouette to silhouette. Sequin, the material of celebration par excellence, is dressed in leopard, and certain motifs take on relief and volume.

This taste for layering perhaps says more than mere one-upmanship. An animal print is ordinarily a surface; here, it becomes a material that is piled up and transformed, as if the motif ceased to be a decoration and became a garment in its own right.

One will notice the absence of hierarchy among the animals cited. Zebra, leopard and reptile do not follow one another by family or by piece: they cross on a single silhouette. It is this collision, more than one more animal theme, that gives the collection its character, and that makes the word Audace less abstract than it seems.

The body as sculpture

It is in the couture pieces that the idea becomes more radical. The body becomes sculpture there. The press release describes a second-skin hair-cloth dress, reptilian in appearance, covered with a holographic animal motif printed in three dimensions. This motif was developed with Teintures de France, who give it relief, movement and depth.

Corsetry, for its part, structures more graphic and sensual forms. Between the hair-cloth that clings and the corset that architects, the collection advances along a narrow line: the one where constraint becomes a choice, and where structure serves freedom rather than limiting it.

The collection also carries an intention that the press release states simply: to show that the animal imaginary can exist without resorting to animal skin. The holographic leopard, the hair-cloth reptile and the spotted sequin are its material demonstration. One will note that one of the oldest codes of luxury, fur and exotic skin, finds here a translation that owes nothing to the animal.

Fashion becomes spectacle

As always at Weinsanto, fashion becomes spectacle. La Grande Dame returns to the media stage and opens the show, accompanied by Lady, Victor Weinsanto’s dog. The press release sees in it the tone of a show where glamour, humour and theatricality answer one another.

The detail is delightful: the opening of a show entrusted to a dog, next to a figure of the stage, is a reminder that excess can be a form of politeness. Colour explodes, codes blur, nothing seeks discretion.

A thank-you letter

Behind the extravagance, the collection can also be read as a letter. Audace is presented as a thank-you to the LGBTQIA+ community, at the heart of Victor Weinsanto’s universe, a community that has made appearance a language, difference a strength and excess a freedom.

The sentence that closes the press release is probably the sharpest: here, being oneself is not a risk, it is a seizure of power. It remains to be seen what spring 2027 will make of it in the street, where boldness ceases to be a collection word and becomes once again a daily decision.
