Firefox Smart Window, Mozilla&#8217;s browsing assistant in beta, now uses Mistral models for users in France and North America, according to the joint announcement of 16 September 2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Finding and connecting information<br \/>\nThe partnership describes help with searching, summarising and identifying sources from tabs. Mozilla and Mistral state that conversations are not saved by default on Mozilla&#8217;s servers and that Mistral accepts zero data retention.<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">These declared commitments should not be turned into a general conclusion about every way the service processes data. Location, access and the exact conditions of a professional deployment call for separate examination.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What the assistant sees<br \/>\nFor a House&#8217;s team, the practical question begins with the scope that can be consulted. A public cultural search and a preparatory collection document can coexist in the same browser without having to be sent to the same service.<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A useful pilot can therefore start from non-sensitive sources and check two points: the fidelity of the summary and the ability to trace precisely back to its references. The announced linguistic nuance also deserves to be assessed on the terms, places and contexts the team actually uses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The browser is no longer only a gateway to documents. It can become the place where they are brought together and interpreted. Choosing this assistance then means defining what it is authorised to read.
