Through September 15, Le Meurice is taking to the streets\u2014with a signature lunch box, a tricycle serving artisanal ice cream, and Bar 228, dedicated to ros\u00e9 champagnes. A luxury hotel that\u2019s choosing summer over the off-season.<\/p>\n\n

Some luxury hotels close for the summer. Others open. Le Meurice, Paris\u2019s premier luxury hotel overlooking the Tuileries Garden, has clearly chosen its side: for the summer season, and through September 15, the hotel on Rue de Rivoli is rolling out a culinary program that reaffirms its mission to offer a Paris experience beyond what\u2019s found in guidebooks.<\/p>\n\n

The \u201cPalace\u201d lunch box is perhaps the most unexpected initiative. Not because the idea of a takeout lunch is surprising in itself, but because the menu\u2014designed by Chef Clementine Bouchon\u2014has a level of sophistication that transforms an office lunch into an experience. A seasonal salad, a veal pastrami bun, or a vegetarian option, along with honey-propolis-vanilla madeleines and cookies by C\u00e9dric Grolet: all for 28 euros, available for pickup Monday through Friday at the reception desk of Le Dali restaurant.<\/p>\n\n

The idea of extending this lunch box under the arbors of the Tuileries Garden says something important about how Le Meurice conceives its relationship with Paris\u2014not as a backdrop, but as a space to be lived in. The luxury hotel isn\u2019t just a place to stop by; it\u2019s a starting point for exploring the city.<\/p>\n\n

The ice cream truck from the Alain Ducasse Ice Cream Factory is also returning to 228 Rue de Rivoli. Eight flavors, served in cups: praline-pistachio, three varieties of vanilla, cherry-orgeat, Madagascar chocolate, fresh herbs, mango-passion fruit-cilantro, praline-hazelnut, and grapefruit. At 11 euros per 160-ml cup, from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m., this delivery tricycle calls for a break that the city rarely refuses.<\/p>\n\n

At Bar 228, finally, an exclusive selection of ros\u00e9 champagnes is being featured for the summer. Set against a backdrop of majestic wood paneling and a marble bar, lulled each evening by soft music, the bar offers what Parisian summers often lack: a quiet place, slightly removed from the world, where delicate pink bubbles provide a refreshing counterpoint to the city\u2019s heat.<\/p>\n\n

Nothing about this is revolutionary. It\u2019s simply just right\u2014which, for a luxury hotel of the Meurice\u2019s caliber, remains the highest of ambitions.<\/p>\n\n
