Starting May 11, 2026, the five-star Molitor Hotel will transform one of its most photographed spaces\u2014the terrace bordering the outdoor pool inaugurated in 1929\u2014into a seasonal installation designed in collaboration with Clarins. More than just a summer promotion, La Plage by Clarins<\/em> reflects a current trend in the Parisian hotel industry: the pool becomes a social setting, spa treatments extend beyond the spa, and the terrace transforms into a hybrid living space where light dining, wellness, and Mediterranean-inspired design coexist. <\/p>\n\n

The appeal of the project lies less in the promised \u201cRiviera\u201d effect than in the choice of location itself. Molitor is not a hotel built around a swimming pool; it is a swimming pool that has become a hotel. The outdoor pool, designated a historic landmark for its Art Deco architecture, remains one of the few places in Paris where you can still sense the hedonistic ambition of the sports facilities of the 1930s. Closed in 1989 before reopening in 2014 under the leadership of the Accor Group, the site has retained this almost cinematic quality: yellow changing rooms, curved lines, and horizontal grandeur. The collaboration with Clarins is therefore a logical next step. The brand has already been operating the hotel\u2019s spa for several years; it is now expanding its presence around the water, where the body is showcased rather than treated. <\/p>\n\n

The terrace, adorned with yellow and white stripes, evokes a very specific image of the French seaside\u2014that of the private Mediterranean beaches of the 1960s rather than a standardized tropical luxury resort. Details matter. In contemporary hospitality, color has become a signature element as powerful as a room fragrance or a soundtrack. Here, Clarins yellow serves as an instantly recognizable graphic element, without turning the space into mere advertising decor. <\/p>\n\n

The culinary offerings follow this same philosophy of carefully balanced lightness. Ni\u00e7oise salad, penne with pesto, sun-ripened vegetables: the menu features straightforward dishes, perfect for enjoying in between swimming, spa treatments, and sunbathing. Nothing ostentatious. The beverages enriched with beauty-boosting ingredients\u2014white peach iced tea, matcha, and hibiscus-pomegranate-lemon-rose herbal tea\u2014reflect, however, a deeper shift in wellness luxury: the boundary between cosmetics, nutrition, and hospitality is gradually disappearing. For several years now, Clarins has been developing this convergence between topical skincare and a holistic approach to well-being, notably through myBlend, its line centered on nutricosmetics and beauty tech. <\/p>\n\n

The most intriguing feature, however, is the treatment cabana set up on the upper terrace. Just thirty minutes. In a spa industry long based on extended sessions and closed rituals, this short format reflects a new approach to treatments: more flexible, more spontaneous, almost integrated into the social rhythm of the day. A massage is no longer a retreat from the world but a discreet interlude between two conversations, two laps in the pool, or a late lunch. The CryoFlash treatment offered by Clarins is also part of this contemporary evolution in beauty treatments, where cold technology is gradually replacing the traditional concept of a relaxing massage. <\/p>\n\n

The partnership with the Pommery Champagne House rounds out this picture of a French art of living that continues to serve as a tool of soft power. Because that\u2019s exactly what it\u2019s all about: selling the idea of Paris in the summer. A capital capable of transforming a historic area of the 16th arrondissement into a miniature seaside resort without ever leaving the ring road. <\/p>\n\n

Through this seasonal installation, Molitor also underscores the evolution of prestigious urban hotels toward models of comprehensive destinations. Visitors no longer seek just a room, but a lifestyle: sports, wellness, dining, socializing, and aesthetics\u2014all brought together within a single space. This approach is inspired by international resorts but adapted here to the Parisian scale. <\/p>\n\n

What remains is this image, in the late afternoon, when the light falls on the cream-colored facades of the outdoor pool and the yellow stripes begin to take on the look of a modernist postcard. Paris still knows how to create artificial summers. The most successful ones are often those that don\u2019t try too hard to hide it. <\/p>\n\n
