Jacques Blanc, the capital’s renowned historic restaurateur, continues his saga of boutique-hotels, renovating the Victor Hugo Paris Kl\u00e9ber in Paris’s 16th arrondissement. <\/p>\n\n
For this new challenge, he has surrounded himself with Arnaud\nDupin, his right-hand man since 2008, from a family of\nhoteliers and himself in the\nluxury hotel business for many years.\n<\/p>\n\n
An Art Deco enthusiast, Jacques Blanc decided to highlight\nthis 1930s building, with its exceptional, secret\nview over an aerial water basin\nunknown to Parisians.\n<\/p>\n\n
Following the renovation of the H\u00f4tel Pastel ***, Jacques Blanc once again called on Laurent Maugoust,\narchitect-designer, and gave him carte blanche. A single proposal from Maugoust was enough to launch\nthe project. This charming, characterful hotel is the result of a harmonious collaboration between the\ntwo men and their teams. \n<\/p>\n\n
Laurent Maugoust imagines this timeless boutique-hotel as an extension of a home, where friends are invited to stay. With his precise, innovative and trendy eye, he succeeds in instilling the chic, friendly and welcoming feel that customers are looking for. <\/p>\n\n
While respecting the 1930s spirit of the building, Laurent Maugoust continues the history of the H\u00f4tel Victor Hugo Paris Kl\u00e9ber, modernizing it to reflect the art of living of the period. <\/p>\n\n

“Naturally inspired by the Art Deco architecture of the\nbuilding that houses the H\u00f4tel Victor Hugo Paris Kl\u00e9ber,\nwe have, in the manner of an ensemblier, placed\nornamentation and decor at the heart of the transformation of\nthis beautiful establishment in order to restore its letters of nobility\n“.\n<\/p>\n\n

For Laurent Maugoust, modernity comes from\nspace. Opening up a building modernizes it,\neven if it remains classic. With this in mind\n, he has created an open-plan space and worked on\nperspectives, such as the marble carpet-like floor\nin the lobby, or the Art Deco patterns on the entrance door\n, which recall the exterior architecture. \n<\/p>\n\n
He mixed furniture and motifs, without ever leaving\nthe Art Deco chromatic range.\n<\/p>\n\n
“Particular care was taken in selecting\nsingular and eclectic materials such as raffia,\ngrained leather, marble, velvet, satin, polished glass,\nlacquered wood or metal to create an elegant, timeless address\n.”\n<\/p>\n\n

Nestled in this beautiful Art Deco building,\nl’h\u00f4tel offers the elegance, charm\nand refinement of a private Parisian home\n.\n<\/p>\n\n
Laurent Maugoust reworked the\nspaces “using coverings and color as\nstructuring elements”. A black marble and white\ncarpet illuminates the lobby, playing on the\nchromatic range of Art Deco: black, white and gold.\nThe walls of the monochrome boudoir lounges are\nsheathed in emerald green, celadon, red\nd’Andrinople and Givenchy pink velvet. Slatted screens\nwith mirrors subtly delineate\nspaces. \n<\/p>\n\n
The details are elaborate and sophisticated, yet uncluttered and refined, such as the brass door handles and studding, reminiscent of the materials used in the Art Deco period. Like the stretched canvas mirror on the ceiling of the library, a device that enlarges and modernizes the room, while retaining the spirit of the period. <\/p>\n\n
The 75 renovated rooms of this boutique hotel are accessible via two elevators and a lovely staircase serving all 8 floors. The corridors are hushed by the leopard-print carpeting favored by Madeleine Castaing, considered one of the greatest decorators of the 20th century. <\/p>\n\n
On the first floor, the lobby has been designed as a warm, multi-purpose space where you can meet up for breakfast, have a drink at the bar or relax in the library and discover the works of Victor Hugo.<\/p>\n\n
– The “Les Contemplations” bar The bar, an important living space within a hotel, has been designed\nin a chic, subdued atmosphere for moments of\npleasure and conviviality. Soft lighting is integrated\ninto the mirrored wall shelf, illuminating the bottles\nto create a warm atmosphere. The deep blue\nvelvet walls and 30’s sconces inspire\na feeling of comfort in a space that makes\nwant to linger. \n<\/p>\n\n
On the drinks menu, a selection of beverages will satisfy\ncustomers at any time of day.\n<\/p>\n\n
In the kitchen, a selection of Boco dishes and desserts will be offered \u00e0 la carte (and in room service). Created by Vincent Ferniot, this concept of gourmet, healthy, top-of-the-range, preservative-free dishes, signed by Michelin-starred chefs and great pastry chefs, has been seducing customers for several years. Served in attractive glass jars, they will be ready to enjoy at any time, in your room or elsewhere. The menu will evolve throughout the year, always offering seasonal produce and a variety of menus (meat and fish recipes, as well as vegetarian and gluten-free dishes). <\/p>\n\n

Breakfast is served as a buffet with savory and sweet options. Made with organic produce, it also offers gluten-free products. <\/p>\n\n
