After a 7-year absence, the star is back at last with a new album, entitled “Unbreakable”, co-written and produced by the famous duo Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis, behind all her hits. The program includes 17 melodic songs that won’t disappoint her fans. The first two singles, the slow-burning “No Sleeep” (with young rapper J.Cole) and the dancefloor-friendly “Burn It UP” (with Missy Eliott), are particularly effective. The other songs, such as the euphoric “Night” and “Take Me Away” (part pop, part soul, part rock), are enthusiastic and sometimes evoke memories of her brother Michael, who passed away in 2009. “Unbreakable” was the title of a song by the King of Pop, J. Cole mentions him in “No Sleeep” (“Butterflies like MJ”), Janet sings like her brother on “The Great Forever” and “Broken Hearts” evokes him directly. A remarkable album, undoubtedly the most important of her career since 1986’s “Control”,
\nreflects Janet’s artistic and, above all, personal evolution. Finally, the cover is as luxurious as the album’s production. The superb photos are by Yu Tsai, and the art direction is by Solaiman Fazel. In love with Paris (she declared her love for it in the song “Runaway”), Janet will be in concert in the capital on April 10, 2016 at Bercy.
