\nVisions in Cuba<\/p>\n

Starting from a contradiction: making something new out of something old, and something old out of something new. And that’s Cuba. A journey that offers one vision, encloses another, then another. As always with Alberto Biani, chaos
\nbrings order. There’s the raw white fabric of certain cots, forgotten sheets, tired uniforms and unwearable curtains. Fabrics born to last and renew themselves over time. A meticulous search for what has been and will be again. Even before defining the material, it exists. Important cottons with a history. Only then do they become shirts, jackets, dresses and pants. Military essentiality. Popular practicality.
\n There are no beautiful or ugly things; it’s the succession of the latter that defines aesthetics. As when, in a London market, amidst the rags and tatters appears a Christian Dior silk shirt from the 50s, authentic and precious. Suddenly, everything has value. In the same way, here are light little skirts, ruffled shorts and essential blouses. With duchesse cotton. Paradoxes. The detail that elevates. Mixing this ensemble becomes quality, a quality that is appreciated. Even in memories. For example, the Sanderson fabric that covered grandma’s
\nrattan sofas: faded today as it was then. For exuberant suits and pants. Exaggeration as the only essential and necessary form. Declinations of reds and blues. Assertive touches of green.
