A darkly romantic atmosphere at Givenchy…An old dismembered cessna hanging in the center of the Halle Freyssinet provides the backdrop for Riccardo Tisci’s latest Givenchy collection. Oppressive, repetitive music sets the mood, suggesting that something dramatic has happened. But it’s conquerors rather than survivors, hair plastered with a small black nylon cap and dressed in black short suits and white contrast collar shirts, who advance and circle the plane with confident steps. Then the prints burst out like spots or micro-flowers in a total look. A wide belt, like a basque open at the side, encircles the silhouette. Self-adhesive stripes on shirts, overcoats and the back of jackets lend a graphic modernity to garments. Transparent sweaters lighten the silhouette and are worn over ensembles whose floral prints grow throughout the collection, before being entirely embroidered with pearls.
