Herm\u00e8s takes a mother-of-pearl dial as its canvas to honor the art of miniature painting. The Slim d’Herm\u00e8s Mille Fleurs du Mexique watch, a limited edition of six numbered pieces, is entirely crafted in the company’s workshops.
\nThe craftsman begins by transferring onto the mother-of-pearl the motif inspired by a Herm\u00e8s square by graphic artist Laetitia Bianchi, before working each line by hand. Once the contours of the design have been sketched more clearly, he prepares his color palette. With infinite delicacy, he applies a first coat of paint with the tip of his brush, followed by twenty or so others, each of which is then put in a 90\u00b0 oven to dry.
\nAs the little touches of color gradually awaken, the dial reveals all its nuances. The “Mille Fleurs” motif reveals a parterre of cut flowers and foliage, like the 15th and 16th century tapestries from which it takes its name. A nod to Laetitia Bianchi’s Mexican origins, she has drawn on her country’s folklore for the occasion, as feathers, eurs, leaves and birds metamorphose, appearing or disappearing depending on the angle of view.
\nEnvisaged as a unique pictorial work, the dial is housed in a white gold case crafted in the Herm\u00e8s workshops. Faithful to the emblematic codes of the Slim collection, this precious, slender case reveals lines that are both light and pure. At its heart beats the Manufacture Herm\u00e8s H1950 extra-flat caliber, while an alligator leather strap also crafted in the company’s workshops completes the ensemble. <\/p>\n\n\t\t
