A celebration with a beautiful reissue more faithful than ever to the DNA of this iconic watch. <\/b><\/p>\n<p>In 1976, Jack Heuer, great-grandson of the company&#8217;s founder, designed a chronograph to celebrate Niki LAUDA&#8217;s<sup>1st<\/sup> world championship title with FERRARI. The Swiss watchmaker was then Official Timekeeper of the Scuderia (from 1971 to 1979), and this was the first time the inscription MONZA appeared on a watch face. <\/p>\n<p>At the time, the watch was very racy and different. <b>Its cushion case<\/b> is inspired by a model dating from 1925. An all-black chrono, equipped with a <b>pulsometer <\/b>(to measure heart rate) and<b>tachymeter scale<\/b> (which transforms time into speed), <b>red hands and counters<\/b> to recall the racing Heuer was sponsor and timekeeper of the Italian team from 1971 to 1979.\n\t\t\t\t<\/dd><\/dl><br style=\"clear: both\" \/>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\n<p><b>Beautiful watches never go out of fashion.<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Today, back to basics: the 2016 reissue features the watch&#8217;s two key functions, the <b>pulsometer and the tachymeter scale<\/b> (which had not been the case for previous reissues), and with <b>the same original font.<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Of course, the famous original <b>cushion case<\/b> takes pride of place, and it too is all black, exactly like the historic model, with <b>black and white lacquered hour and minute hands also like the original.<\/b> This applies to the vintage orange SuperLuminova &#x2122; indexes. Likewise, the historic HEUER logo on the dial, which today marks membership of the manufacture&#8217;s historic collection. <\/p>\n<p>A link between past and present, the case is now made of <b>grade 5 titanium<\/b> (previously steel), making it lighter and more shock-resistant. The material is treated with titanium carbide to give it a powerful matte-black appearance. <\/p>\n<p>The diameter has also been enlarged (from the small 39mm size of the time, to <b>42mm<\/b>, making it more masculine and contemporary). It is fitted with a &#8220;super racing&#8221; bracelet in black stitched<b> full-grain calfskin<\/b>, echoing the <b>design of the three-spoke steering wheels<\/b> on cars of the era. <\/p>\n<p>Inside, the automatic Calibre 17 chronograph with its two chrono counters at 3 and 9 o&#8217;clock, not too close together to create a harmonious dial. The caseback is screw-down, engraved in red lacquer with the famous historic HEUER logo, and numbered. <\/p>\n<p>All in all, the vintage HEUER Monza is a sought-after timepiece for collectors, and has seen very few reissues. Celebrating its 40th anniversary, this model will undoubtedly go down in the history of the Manufacture&#8217;s heritage, so close is its inspiration to the original spirit. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>1976-2016: 40 years of history.
