It’s time for commitment! Making practical, chic, well-cut clothes with trendy prints: Ok. But that’s not the whole story. <\/p>\n

G-Star Raw stands out from the crowd and signs its commitment by joining forces with Bionic Yarn and Parley For the Oceans, for a third Raw for the Ocean collection. The starting point for the collection: a sketch by Pharrell Williams. In addition to providing hits and being one of the best collaborations, the singer, producer…adds styling to his roster. His futuristic Occotis Hdd bomber sets the nautical tone for the collection. In the same vein, G-star raw revisits Breton stripes – used in linings – and adds a quirky mascot to classic pieces like trench coats: a cartoonish octopus. <\/p>\n

More than just the quirky, original motifs that adorn the garments in this collection, it’s an ecological commitment that sets Raw for the Oceans apart, a movement that encourages us to find alternatives in clothing design, to reflect on the problem of waste that is damaging our ecosystem, and on the possibilities offered by innovative recycling. Because creation doesn’t mean novelty: creation is also to be found in detour, in the ability to reinvest elements. Plastic pollutes beaches: G-star Raw makes jeans out of it. <\/p>\n

2 million: that’s not the number of downloads achieved by Pharrell Willliams’ latest song, or the quantity of jeans debited during the latest sales: it’s the number of plastic containers collected from ocean shorelines that have been transformed into jeans, jackets or t-shirts.<\/p>\n

Turning a pumpkin into a horse-drawn carriage: more than an act of good faith, it’s an act of good citizenship. Rediscovering the beauty of our coastlines and preventing them from falling into disrepair: that’s the aim of Parley for the Oceans. By teaming up with Bionic Yarn – a company that excels in the creation of yarns and fabrics made from waste – “Vortex Project” was launched in 2013, like a cry of alarm, an electroshock: let’s preserve nature. <\/span> <\/p>\n

The extent of the damage is highlighted in a documentary produced by i-D magazine, where surfers, scientists and researchers recount their experiences and highlight current solutions, such as Raw for the Oceans. Documentary directed by Jake Sumner entitled “The plastic Age”.<\/p>\n

Available in stores from August 15, if you’re not tempted by ecological fiber, modern jackets or classic jeans, you’re missing out on a great commitment. For once, commitment goes hand in hand with the pleasure of buying clothes! <\/p>\n
