Cutting-edge promotion, an exceptional event, a hot topic (the change of artistic director at Dior): whether you’re a fashion enthusiast or not, this is an epic journey into the art of couture, an exceptional documentary and a cinematic experience. <\/p>\n

In cinemas since July 8, the film follows Raf Simons’ arrival at Dior. His arrival took place in April 2012, eight weeks before the haute-couture collection. Expected to hit the ground running, the designer faced many challenges: finding his place in the Dior team, making his vision heard, imposing his way of working, all under extreme conditions as the clock ticked and ticked… A real adventure that allowed us to meet an atypical designer: shy in a way, who protects himself from the spotlight and the traps of celebrity. Fr\u00e9d\u00e9ric Tcheng had to convince him to make the film. Documentary, adventure, portrait: in 1h30, viewers discover the traditions of a house that has made the reputation of French luxury. <\/p>\n

The film reveals all the secrets behind these precious gowns. From design to delivery on the catwalk. The viewer follows the stress of the teams, and moves with them. A place given to the little hands, essential in the creative process, too often forgotten. Raf Simons, like Fr\u00e9d\u00e9ric Tcheng, treats them as the artistic creator’s equals. <\/p>\n

If Fr\u00e9d\u00e9ric Tcheng chose to devote a documentary to Raf Simons, it wasn’t so much because of the exceptional circumstances surrounding his arrival at Dior, as because of artistic love at first sight. Tcheng knew that Raf Simons was a shoo-in to succeed the sulphurous John Galliano, and so took a close look at the young Belgian’s work. His approach to couture – in the manner of a visual artist – appealed to the director. Nor does this film serve as a promotional banner: it’s a very human portrait. You won’t see muses or other celebrities spouting simple, unargumentative “I love Dior”. <\/p>\n

A film that captures souls and sensibilities, built around the ideal of accurate portraiture, restoring the humanity of haute couture. Fr\u00e9d\u00e9ric Tcheng succeeds brilliantly. <\/p>\n

Dior et moi: the meeting of the ghost of Christian Dior, the fairies of the ateliers and a humble, talented designer.
