What is Bourgine, who is Bourgine? A name, a brand … <\/p>\n

In fact, it’s both. The name of a young designer, humble despite her talent, who signs her second collection with her own name, which has been available since May. The brand is young, like its owner, but not inconsistent. Caroline Bourgine is poised, aware of the current difficulties facing young brands, but remains calm. Step by step, from one objective to the next, the designer builds a first collection, opens a boutique in the heart of the 6th arrondissement. It’s taking, and taking well. The recently launched spring collection already promises to be a best-seller. What’s next? <\/p>\n

Meet a young designer with her feet firmly on the ground and a head full of luscious prints!<\/p>\n

A boutique on Rue Racine, an “Ateliers” boutique: not a white neon store, multiplying mirrors with a background of commercial music. A place that concentrates the garment creation process: inspiration board, sewing corner, as well as the two collections are brought together in this place decorated with finely chosen objects: books dear to the designer, or a pair of vintage Nike sneakers used for the collection shoot. An unpretentious decor, but one in which every detail and every object has a special place. Welcome to Bourgine. <\/p>\n

Caroline is part of this generation of designers who have the audacity to see their projects through to the end. And she does so without setting excessive goals. Measurement: the secret of success, the key to staying on track? <\/p>\n

With a dual career path (business school and fashion design school), Caroline is determined to get through her years of study with ease. It was when she entered business school that the idea of creating her own brand came up, an idea she would keep and pursue at her own pace. She didn’t rush into anything, taking the time to learn and multiplying her internships in the fashion world: she armed herself because she knew that nothing would fall from the sky. <\/p>\n

A thoughtful and intelligent approach, especially at just 24 years of age. Scattered: that’s not a word that suits Caroline at all. For each of her collections, she starts with a theme, a precise inspiration. The colors and atmosphere of the Twin Peaks series were the vehicles for the first collection. Officer jackets borrowed from Agent Harry Truman, prints and shades of green that evoke the landscape of this small Lynchian village. Why Twin Peaks, when the 90s are back and the series’ comeback is creating uncontrollable impatience among fans? <\/p>\n

Caroline admits she’s not specifically a fan of the series, but rather of the atmosphere, images, colors and prints that worked in her imagination to create the first collection. The craze surrounding the series: a happy or unhappy coincidence. It’s not Caroline’s aim. If the series is in the air of the times, why not, but that’s not what prompted the young designer to work around these mysterious greenish landscapes. <\/p>\n

That’s what I like about Bourgine too: she creates collections without falling prey to the diktats of fashion and trends. She creates for herself from what moves her, regardless of whether it’s on the front page of Vogue or hidden away in a little-known museum. Inspiration has no rules. Caroline makes clothes that appeal to her, while retaining her own sense of style. The collections are designed to be worn: practical, printed or more classic, comfortable and with cuts to suit everyone. <\/p>\n

A fetishist of the trapeze skirt, which she wears with offbeat sophistication, the piece becomes a key element in both collections. Jumpsuits, trench coats and waist-hugging pants are all part of the pattern. Collections for a complete wardrobe. Where some young brands play on the concept of a single piece available in several colors, Caroline dresses us entirely. <\/p>\n

The inspiration for the second collection came from a visit to the major retrospective organized around Sonia Delaunay, definitely the Parisian exhibition of the year for the designer. And it was there that she fell in love with the graphics of the paintings, from which she drew inspiration for the motifs printed on the various elements of her collection. Continuing her research, she delved into the history of these Russian expatriate women, and was seduced by their style, their chasuble dresses, button-down collars and created the “portefeuillov” dress, double belted skirts and tops for the spring collection. <\/p>\n

Inspired by a research approach that never strays from its guiding principle, Bourgine’s cuts are carefully crafted yet wearable on a daily basis, elegant yet eccentric-but never outlandish-that’s how we might sum it up.<\/p>\n

A designer who introduces “Parisian chic” to her style, embellished with the lightness and modernity of prints. A taste for risk, a ban on constraint that Caroline holds dear. <\/p>\n
