Bahm, Pop , Boom . These are just some of the onomatopoeia from the Seventies that come to mind when looking at the new slip-ons from Vans. Blending in with flower power as fun as Austin Power, this collection is an opportunity to take a brief trip back to the mythical 70s. <\/p>\n

Venice Beach, heatwave, blond hair: the beginnings of skateboarding. Jay Adams, riding the pools with the Z-Boyz, went through a period of colorful imagery on LSD, with varying degrees of success. Vans is imbued with this imagery: Emile Hirsch plays Jay Adams in Catherine Hardwick’s film Lords of the Dogtowns<\/em>, wearing Era shoes. <\/p>\n

The Vault collection is an opportunity for lovers of this imagery to take a trip back in time, to appropriate a past, but a past brought up to date. Following on from the Galerie de Glaces at the Ch\u00e2teau de Versailles, Takashi Murakami is now tackling the Slip-on model, whose silhouette has been copied, notably by Celine. For the designer, it’s another opportunity to prove that he’s in the tradition of Andy Warhol. His “superflat” style, inspired by Japanese manga, makes these shoes unique artistic pieces. Each model is signed with a drawing of the designer’s dog, Pom. <\/p>\n

This collection is not limited to shoes: clothing and skateboards embellished with flowers and skulls will also be released at the end of June.<\/p>\n

After collaborating with the very best in leather goods (Louis Vuitton) and the cutting-edge Kayne West, Murakami’s satirical brush is now applied to the very best in extreme sports accessories. Can’t wait for June 27! <\/p>\n
