LG Electronics unveiled its highly anticipated LG G4 smartphone last week. The launch was held at six different events in New York, London, Paris, Singapore, Istanbul and Seoul.

\nWith the G4, LG offers a smartphone that will leave a lasting impression thanks to its unique design, high-fashion finish and innovative performance. Where the telephony market offers standardized products with a common design, the LG G4 puts the consumer at the center of attention. In its latest trend research, LG paid particular attention to the materials used for its finish. The LG G4 is available in full-grain handcrafted leather in six stunning colors1. The vegetable tanning process used is a traditional method that requires skilled craftsmen to obtain and dye the leather. The leather colors on the G4 are rich and warm, appearing authentic and evolving over time. Most importantly, vegetable-tanned leather is environmentally friendly and can be easily recycled, as no harmful chemicals are used. Other material options for the G4’s rear shell include ceramic white, metallic grey and gold. <\/p>\n

\nThe elegance and style of the LG G4 is a refreshing change from the uniformly flat, all-metal designs that have become the norm in the smartphone sector. The LG G4’s design is defined by the Slim Arc finish, present along the entire length of the phone, and underlined by a subtly curved screen. Doing more than accentuate the design, the Slim Arc offers 20% more durability than a flat smartphone in the event of a drop with the screen facing the ground, and gives the smartphone a more comfortable and secure grip. <\/p>\n

\nThe design is also reflected in the smartphone’s user interface, which features simple, naturally intuitive graphics. In the LG G4, icons have more vibrant colors and rounded corners, in keeping with the Slim Arc design. In addition, the Smart Notice widget automatically changes its background and text color according to the home screen image chosen by the user. <\/p>\n

\nAn exceptional visual experience
\nLG has designed the LG G4’s 16 MP camera to capture stunning images, even in poor lighting conditions. The camera module features an f1.8 aperture lens that captures 80% more light than a standard lens. LG has also enhanced low-light performance with Optical Image Stabilizer (OIS) 2.0, which doubles the performance of OIS+, extending image stabilization from one to two degrees on the X and Y axes, while adding a third axis for the first time. <\/p>\n

\nManual Mode, new to the LG G4, allows experienced photographers to further exercise their artistic expression by directly controlling focus, shutter speed, ISO, exposure compensation and white balance for each shot. What’s more, for more precise retouching without losing detail, it is now possible to save photos in RAW format in addition to JPEG.
\nThe LG G4’s advanced camera is complemented by Color Spectrum Sensor (CSS), the first feature of its kind to be introduced on a smartphone. CSS improves color accuracy by deciphering the RGB values of ambient light, as well as infrared light reflected from objects. CSS uses this information to adjust the camera’s white balance and flash color to create images as close as possible to what the naked eye perceives. Thanks to Color Spectrum Sensor, reds will never again appear bright orange, nor whites pale yellow. <\/p>\n

Indeed, the LG G4 is the first smartphone to use LG Display’s new 5.5-inch Quantum Display IPS screen, which offers 20% higher color reproduction, a 25% improvement in brightness, and 50% higher contrast. It’s the first Quad HD display to use Advanced In-Cell Touch (AIT) technology, which merges LCD and touchscreen panels into a single one, to deliver better color reproduction and touch sensitivity. The new screen is calibrated to the DCI (Digital Cinema Initiatives) color expression standards advocated by Hollywood’s top studios. <\/p>\n

The Memories feature automatically organizes photos and videos into albums according to events, based on the date and place where they were taken, without having to upload them to the cloud.
