For his Easter creations, Pierre Mathieu, head pastry chef at the Mandarin Oriental in Paris, was inspired bya Chinese legend<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\"Tangram<\/a><\/p>\n

Tangram<\/strong> (Chinese: \u4e03\u5de7\u677f; q\u012b qiao ban) is a Chinese puzzle made up of 7 pieces.
\nAccording to legend, a 16th-century Chinese emperor named “Tan” dropped an earthenware tile which shattered into 7 pieces. He was never able to put the pieces back together again, but the man realized that with the 7 pieces it was possible to create multiple shapes, hence the origin of the tangram game. <\/p>\n

The Mandarin Oriental Easter egg is based on this game. You have to break the gilded 40% C\u00f4te d’Ivoire milk chocolate egg to reveal the 7 white chocolate pieces hidden inside. By separating the egg from its base, gourmands will then reveal the Tangram model to be reconstituted using the white chocolate pieces.
\nModel and pieces then combine to create the Tangram Egg, a delicious blend of white and milk chocolate filled with a peanut praline<\/strong>, which will delight young and old alike. <\/p>\n

L’\u0152uf Tangram will be available from April1<\/sup> to 21, 2014 at the Comptoir des P\u00e2tisseries at the Mandarin Oriental in Paris.<\/p>\n
