Michaela Stark, lingerie couture artist, is a rising figure in the world of fashion and art. Invited to take part in the “Sargent and Fashion” exhibition at Tate Britain, Michaela Stark presented a performance that fused fashion and art. Inspired by the mixed reactions to the exhibition in the media and among creative people, she wanted to demonstrate the artistic and cultural value of fashion. Wearing a haute couture dress of her own design, Michaela celebrated fashion as a form of art and craft. <\/p>\n\n

For this performance, Michaela wore a complete outfit of her own design. The corset was made of invisible tulle, with dupion silk details and hand-embroidered eyelets. The skirt, also in invisible tulle, was adorned with a hand-pleated organza silk overlay and crystal embroidery. The skirt train was composed of invisible tulle and delicate Violette. To complete the look, she wore tulle gloves by Maison Margiela and burgundy tabis leather heels by the same house. <\/p>\n\n

Michaela’s performance, entitled “Madame X and the Art of Taking Risks” and curated by Rebecca Gremmo, was a response to those who think Sargent’s work is “above” fashion.
