Paul Smith presents a new capsule collection of tuxedos for women.<\/p>\n

Soon after opening his first boutique in London’s Covent Garden in the 70s, Paul realized that a female clientele was coming in specifically to buy men’s suits and have them altered afterwards.<\/p>\n

At the same time, Grace Coddington, then artistic director of US Vogue, was shooting Paul Smith shirts and suits from the men’s ready-to-wear collection on women models.<\/p>\n

Motivated by this idea, Paul launched his women’s ready-to-wear collection in 1994, with tailoring at the heart of his collections.<\/p>\n

Paul’s friend Pattie Smith has also been a great inspiration for the way he wears suits, as have icons such as Charlotte Rampling and Lauren Bascall.<\/p>\n

On the occasion of the Fall\/Winter 2018 collection show, Paul tailors a bespoke tuxedo for Malgosia Bela, a Polish model, actress, and publisher. The experience reminded him of the tuxedo his wife wore, as well as his affection for this iconic piece of tailoring with such androgynous style. <\/p>\n

This impeccably cut collection in Barathea wool and satin includes a classic tuxedo jacket, blazer and long double-breasted coat, as well as a slim single-button coat.<\/p>\n

Pants are fitted or wide-leg, with high waist and front pleats. The collection is completed with a series of silk shirts, a camisole top, a shoulder bag and patent Derbies. <\/p>\n
