As part of Milan Design Week, Bottega Veneta, Cassina and the Fondation Le Corbusier have joined forces in an exceptional collaboration. Under the creative direction of Matthieu Blazy, the “On the Rocks” installation is unveiled at Palazzo San Fedele, promising a deep immersion in the art of design and craftsmanship. <\/p>\n\n

This initiative highlights the LC14 Tabouret Cabanon, an iconic work by Le Corbusier that perfectly encapsulates the expertise of Cassina’s woodworking workshop. Originally designed for his own cabanon in Roquebrune-Cap-Martin, this stool represents the ultimate expression of the architect’s minimalism. Inspired by a whisky case washed up on the rocks, this simple, sophisticated and versatile piece of furniture features dovetail joints that emphasize the connection points between the solid wood pieces. <\/p>\n\n

The “On the Rocks” installation features customized editions of the LC14 Tabouret, originally commissioned by Matthieu Blazy for Bottega Veneta’s Winter 24 fashion show set, as well as a new limited-edition tribute, upholstered in Bottega Veneta’s famous leatherwork. The wood editions feature a special burned wood technique, inspired by traditional Japanese methods, which naturally protects the wood while highlighting the unique grain patterns. The leather editions, available in four colors – red, yellow, blue and raintree green – are entirely covered with Bottega Veneta’s Intreccio scarf technique, hand-woven in their artisan workshop in Montebello. <\/p>\n\n

The installation campaign, directed by Pierre Debusschere, features Anok Yai posing with the leather edition of the Tabouret. The exhibition not only offers a glimpse into the exceptional craftsmanship of these luxury houses, but also marks a preliminary step towards the transformation of Palazzo San Fedele into Bottega Veneta’s new headquarters from September 2024. This historic building, located in the heart of Milan, is destined to host regular cultural events as well as the brand’s offices. <\/p>\n\n

“On the Rocks” is a celebration of history, craftsmanship and innovation, reflecting these brands’ commitment to honoring both heritage and modernity. The exhibition is open to the public from April 16 to 20, offering everyone a unique opportunity to delve into the rich and inspiring world of luxury design. <\/p>\n\n
