Get out your sunglasses, because LA’s year-round weather lends itself to a rooftop experience. Here’s our selection of new places that have opened in Los Angeles in recent months: <\/p>\n\n

Cara Cara, Proper Hotel Downtown LA<\/strong><\/p>\n\n

It’s probably the most prominent rooftop in Los Angeles. The Cara Cara<\/a> rooftop at the brand-new Proper Hotel DTLA, which opened last October, offers breathtaking views of Downtown Los Angeles and Broadway Street. The skyscrapers are close enough to make you feel very small. The hotel itself attracts art and design enthusiasts. In fact, renowned American designer Kelly Wearstler<\/a> redesigned the entire interior of the Proper Hotel, in a building designated a Historic Landmark in 2014. The rooftop is no exception: the new Californian style blends history and modernity, fantasy and refinement. A plus for the impatient: the rooftop opens at 11am. Bonus for hotel guests: yoga classes on the rooftop every Sunday morning.

Bar Lis at the Thompson Hotel<\/strong><\/p>\n\n

Atop one of the most eagerly awaited hotels of 2021, the rooftop Bar Lis<\/a> evokes the gentle south of France. In a 60s C\u00f4te d’Azur decor, visitors sip cocktails named after Jane Birkin, Bang Bang or La Vie en Rose, with a view of the Hollywood Sign. The calendar of events<\/a> is inspiring, with live music every Thursday, Friday and Saturday night. Tuesday evenings are reserved for the weekly jazz rendez-vous with duo Ryan Cross and Gilles Amsallem.

La Barra, Cha Cha Cha<\/strong><\/p>\n\n

Originally from Mexico City, the rooftop La Barra Cha Cha Cha<\/a> recently opened in Los Angeles, right in the heart of the Arts District, to the delight of taco and cocktail (Tequila-based but not only! ) lovers. On the second floor, you won’t find a 360\u00b0 view, but a Mexican-influenced cocoon in a Palm Springs-inspired mid-century style. Yucca, palm trees, cactus… let yourself be enchanted by their cocktails, including their must-have Strawberry Milk Punch (Tequila 7 Leguas Blanco, Amaretto, Strawberry, Almond, Sumac), so popular with Los Angelinos and recognized as one of the best cocktails of the year by Time Out LA! <\/p>\n\n

Desert 5 Spot by tommie HOLLYWOOD<\/strong><\/p>\n\n

On the 9th floor of this brand-new Hyatt hotel, a stone’s throw from Hollywood’s famous Walk of Fame, is the rooftop Desert 5 Spot<\/a> with incredible views of the LA hills. The pool and relaxed Californian ambience recall the vibes of Palm Springs. Here, you can sip a margarita or a cold beer in a Hollywood Wild West film setting, indoors or out. A new, unpretentious address that invites you to relax and have fun: plenty of canap\u00e9s for guests and here the hotel DJ is present daily, and from time to time vintage juke boxes are there to play all the American rock and country classics. For country fans, this is your new address in LA: learn to country dance at the Line Dance Series, a regular Wednesday night event at Desert 5 Spot – cocktails included.

As soon as you step inside, you feel the energy so typical of Los Angeles. At 11 a.m., a few floors up, a well-guarded and discreet rooftop opens up. Here, a rather young clientele, telecommuting or sipping a colorful cocktail by the pool. The pleasant surprise is that the hotel offers access for all outsiders wishing to enjoy the setting: a day pass, a morning pass or an evening pass. <\/p>\n\n
