\n<\/em> and heli-skiing …. The heli-skiing season is already underway, with 370 athletes accredited to practice the sport in a setting as unexpected as it is beautiful: the famous Ka\u00e7kar mountains on the Black Sea. <\/strong><\/p>\n

The season should last until the end of March, and skiing conditions are optimal. <\/strong><\/p>\n

<\/strong> Popular for its white-sand beaches and dreamy travel tales, but did you know? <\/strong>Turkey has developed ski resorts<\/strong> in keeping with the spirit of winter, and there’s no shortage of images: sublime snow-capped mountains and luxurious winter sports resorts. The Ka\u00e7kar mountains are home to one of the world’s few heli-skiing areas, putting Turkey at the forefront of this exciting and extreme sport. All the conditions are there: powdery snow and long runs. <\/p>\n

The heli-skiing season has opened on the Ka\u00e7kar mountains in the \u00c7aml\u0131hem\u015fin district of Rize. Among the first to hit the slopes was a group of 16 skiers from Switzerland and France, who opened the heli-skiing season <\/strong>. <\/p>\n

The 370 enthusiasts accredited to practice this extreme sport on the Ka\u00e7kar mountains include athletes from Canada, Russia, Italy and the USA.<\/p>\n

The Ka\u00e7kar mountains attract more and more skiers every year.<\/p>\n

Why this craze? The region boasts perfect conditions for heli-skiing <\/strong><\/p>\n

The Ka\u00e7kar Mountains in Turkey are one of the few places in the world that offer ideal conditions for heliskiing, and have been welcoming enthusiasts to the sport since 2004. Located between the provinces of Rize and Artvin, in north-east Turkey, the main peak of the Ka\u00e7kar mountains reaches an altitude of over 3,900 metres. The region’s ski slopes start at an altitude of 1,200 meters and climb to 3,600 meters. They benefit from exceptional visibility, and there are over 400 approved runs in the region, with vertical drops ranging from 700 to 1,200 meters. <\/p>\n

The region boasts a formidable hotel infrastructure and an ultra-qualified team.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Accommodation is well suited to visitors and sports enthusiasts alike: charming hotels, large international hotels, apartments and chalets for rent, etc.<\/p>\n

The Ayder plateau is equipped with a thermal structure that is currently being renovated. No doubt it will be state-of-the-art. <\/p>\n

The team on site caters for all visitors’ needs: mountain guides, pilots, therapists, engineers, interpreters and tour guides are all experienced professionals. All from different Alpine countries, some of the Ka\u00e7kar Mountain guides are also professional helicopter pilots, renowned Himalayan specialists or members of professional rescue teams. The team’s pilots, all of Swiss origin, also work in alpine conditions throughout the year, carrying out heli-skiing and rescue missions. The therapists are trained in physiotherapy, acupuncture and reflexology. <\/p>\n

This fascinating region is one of Turkey’s top destinations for winter sports, culture and gastronomy.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Ka\u00e7kar mountains not only offer snowboarding and heli-skiing for winter sports enthusiasts, but also rafting. In fact, the range is also home to the fast-flowing F\u0131rt\u0131na River, a well-known spot for adrenaline junkies. Standing out among Rize’s many rivers with its torrents and waterfalls, the F\u0131rt\u0131na is the ideal place for rafting. <\/p>\n

The Ka\u00e7kar mountains have something for everyone, including visitors who want to add a little culture to their trip. Here you’ll find historic sites and churches. Located on the Ka\u00e7kar Mountains in Artvin and dating back to the Middle Ages, some of these structures overlook the Black Sea and offer breathtaking views. <\/p>\n

A not-to-be-missed experience in the Ka\u00e7kar mountains is its gastronomy. Visitors can enjoy the “Black Sea T\u00fcrkiye” regional breakfast on the Ka\u00e7kar mountains and the famous hamsi, Black Sea anchovies usually served baked or fried. Prepared with natural products, the “Black Sea T\u00fcrkiye” regional breakfast is a real experience, which includes the famous Rize black tea, muhlama, a mixture of cheese, cornflour and butter, tur\u015fu kavurmas\u0131 (fried pickles), m\u0131s\u0131r ekme\u011fi (corn bread), a variety of pides (flat breads), local butter and Anzer honey, which is produced locally on the green plateaus of the Black Sea. <\/p>\n

A destination in Turkey’s ongoing “Safe Tourism” initiative<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Ka\u00e7kar mountain resorts have made sure to take every possible safety precaution. They have all the necessary equipment and evacuation aids, from rescue mats with winch covers to vacuum mattresses, defibrillators and ventilation systems, not to mention first-aid kits. To assist you in the event of an accident, all on-site guides are trained in procedures, snow conditions and equipment use. <\/p>\n

In addition to the safety measures associated with heli-skiing, Turkey’s “Safe Tourism<\/strong>” certification program is meticulously adhered to. It is the first of its kind in the world to have certified the conformity of accommodation facilities, catering establishments, excursion and transfer vehicles, cultural, artistic and congress facilities, theme parks, ski lifts and installations, not forgetting marine tourism vehicles. <\/p>\n
