--smush-placeholder-aspect-ratio: 3307\/4677;\" \/><\/figure><\/li><\/ul>\n\n<p><strong>Journey to the origins of China<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p>If China were told to me, it would certainly speak of a dragon, the animal central to the founding myths of the first dynasties of the Celestial Empire. <em>A fortiori<\/em>, it would speak of five-clawed dragons, the emperor&#8217;s creatures in search of the sacred pearl that opens the way to wisdom and knowledge. It&#8217;s precisely this China that Chopard has decided to tell the story of with its L.U.C Perpetual T Spirit of the Dragon and the Pearl, a unique timepiece that, like the sacred pearl, opens the way to a world of emotions. The engraving of the 18-carat pink gold case was entrusted to the Maison&#8217;s &#8220;Mains d&#8217;art&#8221;. This fine figurative work was executed in intaglio so as to highlight the two dragons chasing the sacred pearl reproduced on the crown. More precisely, this allegory represents two Tian Long dragons, creatures of the sky and symbols of the soul&#8217;s elevation to a state of pure consciousness. This masterpiece, the fruit of 200 hours of meticulous craftsmanship, will inspire the contemporary <em>gentleman<\/em> to follow the same initiatory path.     <\/p>\n\n<p>To complete the scenography, the solid gold dial of the L.U.C Perpetual T Spirit of the Dragon and the Pearl is adorned with an engraved motif drawn from traditional Chinese iconography, as are the rose gold bezel and buckle. The volutes of the watch case are matched by the geometry of its face. For here, it&#8217;s technique that does the talking. A perfect micromechanical mastery that has distinguished the House of Chopard in the circles of Haute Horlogerie and has already won numerous awards. This timepiece with the L.U.C 02.15-L movement is no exception to these principles of excellence, and features two of the finest complications in watchmaking.    <\/p>\n\n<p><strong>An uncompromising caliber<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p>With its 353 components, L.U.C Perpetual T Spirit of the Dragon and the Pearl is equipped with a tourbillon regulator whose cage, which carries the small seconds, rotates once a minute under its polished steel bridge at 6 o&#8217;clock. A perpetual calendar completes the display, the next correction of which is not scheduled until the year 2100 &#8211; only secular years divisible by 400 are leap years, making 2100 a common year. For perfect legibility, calendar indications are divided between two dials, at 3 o&#8217;clock for the month and leap years, and at 9 o&#8217;clock for the day and 24-hour indication, with a large date window with double aperture completing the symmetry of the dial at 12 o&#8217;clock.  <\/p>\n\n<p>With its tourbillon caliber, a prestigious early 19th-century horological invention designed to compensate for the effects of terrestrial gravity on watch mechanisms, the L.U.C Perpetual T Spirit of the Dragon and the Pearl timepiece could resolutely claim to be extremely precise, a requirement of Karl-Friedrich Scheufele, co-president of Chopard, who insists that all the manufacture&#8217;s L.U.C watches are certified by the Contr\u00f4le Officiel Suisse des Chronom\u00e8tres (COSC). This is why the dial of the L.U.C Perpetual T Spirit of the Dragon and the Pearl bears the appellation &#8220;Chronometer&#8221;, in addition to the Poin\u00e7on de Gen\u00e8ve stamped on the back, one of the most stringent labels in the industry. For optimum ease of use, the watch is also equipped with Chopard Quattro technology, featuring four barrels fitted as standard for a nine-day power reserve with indicator on the back.  <\/p>\n\n<p>Introspective with its mythology that lends a spiritual dimension to the measurement of time, but implacably rigorous when it comes to counting it down, the L.U.C Perpetual T Spirit of the Dragon and the Pearl is a narrative timepiece whose story is told with art and technique. A perfect osmosis. <\/p>\n\n<p><strong>Manufactured watchmaking by Chopard<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p>Chopard is a family-owned company with a strong philosophy of independence. All stages in the manufacture of L.U.C. watches are carried out in-house at its Geneva and Fleurier production sites. Movement conception, finished product design, gold casting, case stamping and machining, movement components, traditional hand-made engravings and decorations, surface treatments, polishing, assembly, adjustment and quality control are all watchmaking operations that Chopard masters in-house and applies to each L.U.C. watch. The fruit of meticulous work, these exceptional timepieces respond to the aspirations of the contemporary <em>gentleman<\/em>.
