Les Vins de Gascogne chose the fine gourmet restaurant Itin\u00e9raires to host a tasting of their wines around a menu of exotic tones. A wonderful idea! <\/h5>\n
More than 1,200 winemakers belong to this C\u00f4te de Gascogne appellation. These are sun-drenched, pleasurable wines that are quick to drink. Alain Desprats, director of the Syndicat des C\u00f4tes de Gascogne, tells me surprisingly, “this very landlocked region is export-oriented.” In fact, 70% of production is consumed outside France (mainly in England, Germany and the Netherlands). <\/h5>\n
We also take a look back at the region’s history. On the slopes of these rolling landscapes, no fewer than 1,200 winegrowers cultivate a vineyard long devoted to the production of wines for the distillation of Armagnac. In the early 80s, they began to create wines that reflect their joie de vivre, gourmet wines, the vast majority of them white, IGP C\u00f4tes de Gascogne, wines to savor! <\/h5>\n

As an aperitif, enjoy a 1\/4 d’heure Gascon 2013 with homemade brioche bread scented with cobawa and a parmesan, carrot-yuzu, smoked eel and orange zest tartlet.<\/h5>\n

The starter is shrimp carpaccio -gambas and salade canaille \u00e0 la lyonnaise, green mango and maldone oyster, tom yun Tha\u00ef emulsion accompanied by Domaine Pajot 2013 les 4 c\u00e9pages du Domaine de Millet 2013.<\/h5>\n
For the main course, we continue with a roasted line-caught sea bass with Mr. Yamashita’s vegetables, shellfish-passion juice and mashed potatoes in two textures, mostarda-citronella condiment. A fine pairing with Domaine de Pellehaut 2012. <\/h5>\n
Finally, dessert: a vanilla cookie tartlet with exotic fruits: pineapple, mango and orange, banana-passion ice cream and shredded Combawa, caramel-salt condiment-

Colombard, gros manseng, petit manseng and ugni blanc produce highly aromatic white C\u00f4tes de Gascogne, to which, depending on the cuv\u00e9e, winemakers add more international varieties such as sauvignon or chardonnay. Tannat, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon make up the red and ros\u00e9 C\u00f4tes de Gascogne wines, with their notes of red and black fruits. This diversity of grape varieties is reflected in singular wines that offer wine-lovers a remarkable palette of gourmet flavors.
\nAt my table Olivier Melon, winemaker who offers a very seductive 1\/4h Gascon. He offers both dry and sweet wines. The man, a rugby enthusiast, talks passionately about the grapes he harvests at night. <\/h5>\n
