On Saturday, May 19<\/strong>, guided and illuminated tours, fun tours, workshops, screenings, tastings, live performances, and exceptional activities will give a wide audience a friendly and original experience of the museum!<\/strong><\/p>\n

This 14th edition<\/strong> is part of the program for the European Year of Cultural Heritage<\/strong>, set up by the European Parliament<\/strong> and the Council of the European Union<\/strong>. The<\/strong> aim of European Museum Night<\/strong> 2018 is to highlight the European dimension of art history and museum collections, and to create cross-border synergies<\/strong> with establishments in countries bordering France.<\/p>\n

Some examples of programs in Paris and the Ile-de-France region:<\/strong><\/p>\n

– For its first participation<\/strong>, the Conciergerie<\/strong> (Paris) offers guided tours around the installation “D\u00e9tournement” by St\u00e9phane Thidet, which echoes the flood of 1910. This work invites us to question the place of the Seine in the capital, its natural, historical and structural role. It extends the reflection on the reappropriation of the river and its banks by Parisians and on the future of the Ile de la Cit\u00e9.<\/p>\n

– The Picasso Museum <\/strong>(Paris) is devoting an exhibition to the history of Guernica, one of the most famous paintings in the world. In the courtyard of the H\u00f4tel Sal\u00e9, the artist Renaud Auguste-Dormeuil proposes the installation “I will keep a light burning”, which will reproduce with 1000 candles the starry sky of the city of Guernica, as it was during the night before the bombing on April 26, 1937.<\/p>\n

– The Monet night” at the Mus\u00e9e d’Orsay<\/strong> (Paris) several masterpieces of Claude Monet to rediscover with guides, but also concerts of the Big Band Umlaut including one dedicated to young audiences.<\/p>\n

– “Long live the Bride” at the castle of Champs-sur-Marne<\/strong> (\u00cele-de-France), the exhibition illustrates the evolution of this emblematic dress from the end of the 17th century to the 1930s. Also to be seen: the lighting of the artistic installations in the garden, dance, free visits of the castle ….<\/p>\n

– At the Mus\u00e9e de l’Homme<\/strong>, visit and projections of the exhibition ” Neandertal ” within the framework of ” La classe, l’oeuvre ! ” the works realized by high school students around the book ” Madame de N\u00e9andertal Journal intime ” by Pascale Leroy and Maryl\u00e8ne Patou-Mathis.<\/p>\n

– A sensory journey through the history of Asian arts at the Cernuschi Museum<\/strong> (Paris), with olfactory experiences, multi-voice visits, and tea tasting offered while browsing the exhibition “Perfumes of China, the culture of incense in the time of the emperors”.<\/p>\n

In the region:<\/strong><\/p>\n

– The MuMa – Mus\u00e9e d’art moderne Andr\u00e9 Malraux<\/strong>, Le Havre (Normandy), examines the imaginary world of the sea, ocean and abyss by artists of the second half of the 19th and 20th centuries with the exhibition “N\u00e9(e)s de l’\u00e9cume et des r\u00eaves” (Born of foam and dreams), 180 works by Anna Atkins, Gustave Moreau, Auguste Rodin, Emile Gall\u00e9, Man Ray, Max Ernst, Brassa\u00ef, Jean Painlev\u00e9…<\/p>\n

– La Piscine Hors les Murs<\/strong> (Hauts-de-France) during the enlargement works, the exhibition Marions-Nous ! unveils original bridal creations in the Vestiaire in collaboration with the Maison de la Mode, a space reserved for designers located near the Piscine.<\/p>\n

– The night under the sign of Europe: design” in the museum with interactive devices, videomapping and projections on the mosaic of Europe, sound and plastic creations in the departmental museum of ancient Arles<\/strong> (Provence – Alpes – C\u00f4te d’Azur).<\/p>\n

– Visit of the exhibition “Fairy Tales” at the National Costume Center of Moulin<\/strong> (Auvergne \/ Rh\u00f4ne-Alpes) animations and mediation around the project La Classe l’oeuvre ! “Nureyev version court(e)”, in connection with the Nureyev Collection.<\/p>\n

A night where students are mediators<\/strong><\/p>\n

For the 6th consecutive year, the Ministry of Culture and the Ministry of Education are offering “The Classroom, the Work of Art”, a joint program designed to bring museums closer to students, from kindergarten to high school. Throughout the year, students from participating schools study the work of a local museum, then come and present the fruit of their labors on the evening of European Museum Night, becoming, in turn, cultural ambassadors for a wide audience of curious onlookers. In 2017<\/strong>, 330 museums<\/strong> and 430 projects<\/strong> were studied and presented by over 700 classes<\/strong>, involving 13,500 students<\/strong> who took part in this artistic and cultural education program.<\/p>\n
