With <em>C.R.E.A.M., Cash Rules Everything Around Me<\/em>, the auction house plunged into the heart of 30 years of New York urban culture, from Urban Art to Streetwear. This unprecedented auction, featuring the movement&#8217;s most emblematic brand, Supreme, and artists of the same generation, totalled \u20ac850,681 \/ $1 million including fees, double its overall estimate.  <\/p>\n<p>Under Arnaud Oliveux&#8217;s hammer, 94% of the 135 lots changed hands. Half of these were sold for more than the estimated price, at the price of numerous battles between bidders in the room, on the telephone and on the Internet. Collectors of the Supreme brand and urban art lovers were particularly numerous in the room (over 250 people). Some, unfamiliar with auction houses, were discovering the world of auctions for the first time. All generations were represented, including the famous Millenials who are sometimes said to be far removed from art.    <\/p>\n<p><em>&#8220;True to its reputation as a pioneer, Artcurial is pushing back the boundaries and succeeding in seducing new generations of collectors. This event sale focuses on one of the most important contemporary cultural revolutions, <\/em> <em>embraces all art forms and redefines collecting. Prizes won both for objects signed Supreme and for works by artists of the same generation who have accompanied this unprecedented worldwide movement, confirm the international interest in urban culture.  &#8221; <\/em>Fabien Naudan, Vice-President, Artcurial<\/p>\n<p>Unsurprisingly, it was Supreme, with the iconic Louis Vuitton collaboration that had unleashed passions worldwide in 2017, that achieved the highest price of the vacation. The extremely rare <em>Courrier 90 Trunk<\/em> (lot 93) and <em>Skateboard Trunk<\/em> (lot 81) achieved \u20ac88,400 \/ $104,312 and \u20ac62,400 \/ $73,632 respectively, within the estimate. <\/p>\n<p>The success of works by street artists KAWS, with its <em>4 Foot Companion (Black<\/em>) from 2007 (lot 22) sold for double its estimate at \u20ac80,600 \/ $95,108, and Futura 2000, with <em>Strawberry parfait II <\/em>from 2009 (lot 14) snapped up \u20ac49,400 \/ $58,292 (estimate: $15,000 &#8211; $20,000), further confirm the accuracy of this panoramic proposal of urban culture mixing different art forms. They echo the Supreme skateboards created in collaboration with artists such as Damien Hirst, Terry Richardson and Takashi Murakami. <\/p>\n<p>ZEVS&#8217;s <em>Liquidated Supreme<\/em> from 2010 (lot 9), depicting the streetwear brand&#8217;s famous white and red logo, perfectly illustrates the powerful links that exist between artists and brands in this universe. It sold for more than 10 times its estimate at \u20ac54,600 \/ $64,428 including fees. In the same spirit, Artcurial offered the work <em>I shop therefore I am<\/em> by Barbara Kruger, dating from 1990, whose graphic codes gave rise to the Supreme logo. Estimated at \u20ac800 &#8211; 1,200 (lot 50), it sold for \u20ac3,300 \/ $3,894.   <\/p>\n<p>Auctions for everyday items that have become collector&#8217;s items have really taken off. The brand&#8217;s totems, notably the emblematic white tee-shirts marked with the famous red logo and those of the most cutting-edge collaborations, are soaring. Such is the case of the Supreme x Nate Lowman T-shirt (lot 54), which multiplied its estimate by almost 10 to reach \u20ac9,800 \/ $11,564. The T-shirt celebrating the opening of the Supreme boutique in Paris (lot 55) fetched \u20ac5,700 \/ $6,726 (estimate: \u20ac900 &#8211; \u20ac1,200).     <\/p>\n<p>Among the collaborations, the success of the boxing accessories co-signed by Supreme x Everlast should be noted.
