Located on the heights of Saint-Emilion, Ch\u00e2teau de Ferrand Grand Cru Class\u00e9 de Saint-Emilion is certainly one of the oldest properties in the appellation. This 42-hectare estate, which dates back to the 17th century, boasts an exceptional site overlooking the Dordogne valley and a unique terroir. <\/h5>\n
After a winter dominated by mild temperatures and little rainfall, spring quickly made itself felt with pleasant temperatures and almost no rainfall. The first Merlot flowers appeared on May 26, those of the Cabernets on May 28. The mild temperatures at the end of May ensured optimum flowering and quality. With the arrival of summer, thanks to its clay terroir and well-managed tillage, the Ch\u00e2teau de Ferrand vineyard did not suffer from the July drought, drawing on the coolness of its subsoil. The vine cycle slows down. The grapes ripen early. August saw a drop in temperatures and the onset of rainy spells. The vine takes full advantage of these conditions, firstly to accelerate veraison and secondly to enlarge the grape berries. <\/h5>\n
In September, the grapes ripen in fine weather, with satisfactory daytime temperatures and cool nights. Ideal weather for perfect ripening. The 2015 harvest promises to be fine and favorable, beginning on September 29 for the Merlot grapes in clement weather. The Cabernet Franc was picked from October 8 and the Cabernet Sauvignon from October 12. Harvesting took place in dry weather, ensuring that the grapes retained their aromatic freshness. Quality was optimal and volumes comfortable, heralding an exceptional vintage. <\/h5>\n
Ch\u00e2teau de Ferrand 2015 is a blend of 79% Merlot, 11% Cabernet franc and 10% Cabernet sauvignon. This vintage is characterized by its deep color. The nose reveals aromas of ripe black fruit (blackcurrant, blueberry, cherry). Floral notes appear with aeration. The palate is full-bodied and fleshy, with good balance and a velvety mid-palate. The finish is persistent, with silky, elegant tannins. 2015 is undoubtedly a great vintage for laying down. <\/h5>\n
