\nFor Spring\/Summer 2014 and for the first time Swarovski pays tribute to art. “In colors, silhouettes, materials and textures, art has always been a source of inspiration for designers and fashion creators,” says Nathalie Colin, Artistic Director of Swarovski. From tribal crafts to contemporary art, this new collection is based on earth tones and brilliant primary colors. Ethnic cultures meet artistic movements in original combinations of simple and sophisticated materials, accompanied by Swarovski’s characteristic touch of modernity and femininity. “The interactions between all these influences create a unique yet universal style of jewelry for all women and for everyday looks,” continues Nathalie Colin. These jewels, fusions of simplicity and opulence, offer the essential building blocks for a chic, elegant wardrobe. <\/p>\n

In this spirit, tradition and craftsmanship unite with the most innovative techniques. A marriage of cultures, expressed this season by jewelry centered around the concepts of “tribal glam” and “monochrome blue”, which are the major themes of this new collection imbued with a relaxed, natural and fresh air. <\/p>\n

For the “Glam Tribal” theme, lines inspired by African art and craftsmanship are given an urban twist. Contemporary looks are imbued with yellow gold and combinations of gold- or silver-plated metals with simple materials such as wood, leather or rope, the fruit of daring work that transforms everything into animal prints, hammered jewels and moving bangs. They give crystal a new appeal, a state of mind that’s both casual and sophisticated.

\nThe “Video” pendant and “Stone” bracelets are composed of rose gold, silver and black tones that seem extracted from the earth, emphasizing the combination of plated metal and black. In the same spirit, the XXL “Auburn” cuff bracelet, in metal and leather, gives the impression of being embroidered with a bracelet of irregular crystals, and plays with the concept of the modern totem. Between simplicity and opulence, the “Arty” pendant and earrings, adorned with an audacious center stone in exclusive-cut crystal, combine the precision of pav\u00e9 and Pointiage\u00ae setting techniques. Adorned with bangs in the style of a tribal mask, the “Afternoon” earrings are accompanied by a cocktail ring whose metal seems to form a cage around an oversized stone. Metal and crystal fuse to create unexpected, bold jewelry bursting with personality. <\/p>\n

Sparkling, luminous, artistic, this new collection also represents a desire for versatility: it’s made up of versatile jewels that can be shared, two-in-one styles, and removable pieces to form unique jewels that can be customized in the blink of an eye, to suit your mood. The “Video” triple rings, combining rose gold-plated metal and black PVD with clear crystals set in pav\u00e9, can be separated to suit the desire to wear them alone or whole. <\/p>\n

Borrowing from nature, this collection has given birth to a type of art formed of organic lines and simple materials. Natural pigments were used to create the warm primary colors that serve as the basis for all the hues. Among these is blue, used here in a pure, intense monochrome hue. The power of pigments offers a new freedom of expression: crystal blends even more closely with fabric, as in the “Amazing” set, which aligns lamellas of Crystal Rock, Swarovski’s new favorite technique, in denim tones ranging from raw indigo to faded. A blend of techniques and aesthetics that expresses Swarovski’s DNA and perfectly illustrates the House’s expertise, whether in working with crystal or in its color and brilliance.
