Domaine Chanson, rooted in Burgundy and established in Beaune for over 250 years, is rightly considered one of the greatest specialists in Beaune terroirs, with its 45-hectare estate, 25 of which are located in the Premiers Crus vineyards surrounding the Burgundy wine capital.<\/strong> <\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

Among the 10 parcels the Domaine owns in Beaune is a very special terroir whose name recalls the beaches that border the Atlantic: “Les Gr\u00e8ves” <\/b>. Chanson owns 2 ha in this climate. The soil of this parcel, located on the slopes of the Mont-Batois hill, facing Beaune, is very diverse geologically, with a significant presence of sand in the upper part of the slope, marked by an outcrop of the parent rock in places, and a clay vein in the lower part, giving a heavier soil. There is also a strong presence of small pebbles. This geological combination results in a well-structured wine with a good tannic base. <\/span><\/p>\n

The ideal climate and the specific characteristics of this terroir, combined with long, meticulous vatting times, strict temperature control and 19 months’ oak barrel ageing (20% new oak), worked wonders for the 2009 vintage. <\/span><\/p>\n

The result: intense aromas of strawberry jam, plum with peppery notes and a touch of leather. You can feel the warmth of the earth in this wine. The texture is rich in detail, the volume is complex and plays on tannins with a patinated relief and a subtle woodiness. The finish is in the same vein: generous yet uncommonly elegant. <\/span><\/p>\n
