The Butte Montmartre is full of tourist traps. Fortunately, Jeanne B’s cuisine is solid and tasty. A pleasant surprise! <\/strong><\/em>

Driving up rue Lepic, the front of Jeanne B sums up the place’s hybrid “grocery, table d’h\u00f4tes, rotisserie” feel. It’s a busy Sunday lunchtime, and the waitresses are turning people away. Many regulars have been careful to make reservations. We settle down around a small round table. We are shown the menu on a slate and the wine list on a large bottle. We take our order. The waitresses are smiling and dynamic. They take the time to describe the dishes. The dining room opens onto the kitchen. The atmosphere is relaxed and family-friendly. Children can enjoy the “petit poulet” menu. <\/span><\/p>\n

We start with an attractive, well-seasoned vegetable carpaccio. It’s fresh and crunchy. We could easily have been tempted by a terrine or oysters. The menu is rich and tempting. <\/span><\/p>\n

Then it’s a pleasure to taste a leg of free-range chicken with gratin dauphinois. The cooking is just right. The juices are good. We’ve hit the nail on the head! Jeanne B also offers a succulent leg of lamb.

For dessert, everything is homemade and we opt for a slice of chocolate\/praline cake. We’re equally satisfied. A meal without false notes. Simple, authentic cooking.

All in all, Jeanne B is a neighborhood restaurant well worth the detour. An excellent starting point for a stroll on the Butte.
