Fashion and art have always merged into one, so it’s only natural that ballet should be of interest to the fashion world. In many ways, these worlds are similar, even complementary. Rigor and aestheticism are key concepts, leitmotifs. Dior saw its muse play the role of a tortured prima ballerina in Black Swan. <\/p>\n

\"Opera<\/p>\n

Riccardo Tisci<\/strong> chose to take on his first personal project directly linked to ballet, in partnership with the Opera Garnier ateliers. And he is the first to evoke the strong link between fashion and dance: “Designing costumes for a ballet remains one of the absolute dreams of every fashion designer. I had received several proposals from other theaters and opera houses. But it was never the right time. When this project came along, I felt I had to accept […].” <\/p>\n

With the prestige of the institution and the position, this proposal, coming directly from the Opera’s Director of Dance, was a no-brainer for the Givenchy designer, who chose to adapt to Ravel’s Bol\u00e9ro by embracing the duality of its personality, its darker side and its more joyful, danceable side.<\/p>\n
