Today, the Mus\u00e9e d’Art Moderne de la Ville de Paris, in collaboration with the CENTQUATRE, is dedicating one of the largest retrospective exhibitions to the American artist Keith Haring, 23 years after his death. Entitled “Keith Haring, The political line”, the exhibition, which runs until August 18, reveals Keith Haring’s committed message through 250 works (drawings, paintings, sculptures) produced on canvas, tarpaulin or in the metro, of which some 20 very large-format works are on show at the CENTQUATRE, coming from the four corners of the world, notably the United States, the Middle East and Korea. Born in Pennsylvania in 1958, and arriving in New York in 1978, Keith Haring has created a dazzling body of work in just over ten years. He has become one of the most popular contemporary artists, alongside Jean-Michel Basquiat and Andy Warhol, with whom he has already exhibited. Always alert to the world around him, Keith Haring never ceased to use his art to convey his ideas to the public, warning against discrimination and capitalism, but also against the dangers of atomic weapons, drugs and, finally, AIDS, from which he died in 1990 at the age of 31. This retrospective sheds light on the militant and subversive aspect of his work. Shortly before his death, Keith Haring set up a foundation in his name to continue serving the causes he held dear. <\/p>\n\n\t\t
