Hong Kong, artistic capital of Asia<\/strong><\/p>\n

A month of international events in May;<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

The attractiveness of the economic capital is undoubtedly a financial result, although art has become an important variant in recent years. Hong Kong, the art capital of Asia. <\/em><\/p>\n

Since the inauguration of the ART HK modern and contemporary art fair in 2008, art lovers have been gathering in the spring, drawn by the area’s artistic frenzy.<\/p>\n

The first edition of Art Basel Hong Kong in 2013 was a huge success. Three thousand artists were on show for connoisseurs and locals alike. Sixty thousand investors came to the show. <\/p>\n

The operation was so successful that it will be repeated from May 15 to 18.<\/p>\n

Artists from 39 countries and territories will be represented by 245 galleries.<\/p>\n

New to the event is a film section promoting the region’s rich video and film heritage.\"Hong<\/a><\/p>\n

Alongside Art Basel,<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

The Hong Kong Museum of Art presents the “Living World” series by Taiwanese sculptor Ju Ming. Like the Asia Art Archive, the Hong Kong Arts Centre and City University’s School of Creative Media will be presenting numerous exhibitions throughout May. <\/p>\n

The auction houses will be holding their spring auctions from May 17 for Bonhams and May 24 for the renowned Christie’s. In the run-up to the sales, they will be staging exhibitions of traditional Asian and contemporary art. <\/p>\n

All year round;<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

The city’s arts scene is set to continue. In addition to international events such as Art Basel Hong Kong – also scheduled for 2015 –<\/em> public authorities are investing in major cultural projects such as the West Kowloon Cultural District (a renovation project for a former industrial district), and the 2016 opening of the M+ Museum, dubbed “the Pompidou of Asia”. <\/p>\n

The French May Festival;<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

The cultural event, orchestrated by the French Consulate, will be presenting opera, music, dance, comics and much<\/sup> more from May 2 to June 28.<\/p>\n

The French GourMay,<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

Now the gastronomic capital of Asia, Hong Kong will be hosting its 6th<\/sup> edition of cooking workshops and events from May 2 to 31, showcasing the excellence of French cuisine and wine.<\/p>\n

A gustatory “starter” before the Wine & Dine Festival scheduled from October 30 to November 2, 2014, extended throughout November by Wine &Dine Month.<\/p>\n
