If the variety of prints distilled throughout the Devastated<\/strong> Fall\/Winter collection were any indication of the inspiration taken for this runway show, one word might sum it up: “Bittersweet”.<\/p>\n

Bittersweet because they depict rather drab objects (tombstones) to which smiling faces have been affixed in the manner of smileys.<\/p>\n

Monochrome as usual, the duo behind D\u00e9vast\u00e9e, Oph\u00e9lie Kl\u00e8re and Fran\u00e7ois Alary, chose this season to emphasize cuts that are very androgynous (if not downright masculine). As a result, coats are precisely tailored, and houndstooth prints are legion at D\u00e9vast\u00e9e (in the show’s opening, at least). <\/p>\n

Shoes are flats, loafers or oxfords, wedges and booties, supporting the masculine feel of the D\u00e9vast\u00e9e outfits. Comfort is also an important point, and the silhouettes seem to shout “try me”, so much so that we know we’ll feel comfortable in them. <\/p>\n

Shorts worn over black tights, or when fashion is inspired by “real” trends, it adds a tomboyish edge to the silhouette given that the shorts are baggy.
\nThis season, D\u00e9vast\u00e9e has collaborated with glovemaker “Causse” and so we find the famous “Bittersweet” prints all over the clothes and embroidered on the gloves.<\/p>\n\n\t\t
