CA\"real-canon-mouth\"<\/a>NO FRONSAC VRAI CANON BOUCH\u00c9 2010 A WINE OF GREAT DEPTH ON THE HIGH PLATEAU<\/p>\n

Located 40 km northeast of Bordeaux, Ch\u00e2teau Vrai Canon Bouch\u00e9 is considered one of the finest terroirs in its appellation. Atop its hillock, it occupies a prime position on the high plateau of the small
\nappellation Canon Fronsac, from which it enjoys favorable sunshine throughout the day, as well as a superb view over the Entre-Deux-Mers region, with the lazy Dordogne in the foreground, its course occasionally disturbed by the tidal bore. If we are to believe the winegrower’s saying that “for wine to be good, vines must grow in the rocks and look out over the river”, Vrai Canon Bouch\u00e9 still has many promising vintages
\nahead of it. And not least, Vrai Canon Bouch\u00e9’s subsoil is lined with old stone quarries.
\nCh\u00e2teau Vrai Canon Bouch\u00e9 belonged for many years to the Roux family, until it was bought out in June 2005 by Philip
\nde Haseth-M\u00f6ller, a well-known Dutch businessman. In just five years, with the help of Domaine Director Jean de Laitre and St\u00e9phane Derenoncourt, he has succeeded in turning it into one of the Libourne region’s most prominent crus. In fact, it was
\nSt\u00e9phane Derenoncourt who sensed a terroir capable of producing wines of great
\ndepth. <\/p>\n

CANON-FRONSAC, THE KNOWN APPELLATION
\nTo fully understand Canon Fronsac, it’s important not to overlook Fronsac, as the two appellations are inextricably linked. Just over 40 years ago, Fronsac was known as C\u00f4tes de Fronsac, while Canon Fronsac was called C\u00f4tes de Canon Fronsac. The decree dating from 1939 was revised in 1964 to officially abbreviate the names of the two appellations
\n.
\nFronsac encompasses seven communes and around 800 hectares of vines in undulating countryside dominated by knolls where limestone more or less outcrops on a mixture of clay and sandstone. Part of the village of Fronsac, and the whole of Saint-Michel-de-Fronsac, have much more compact asteriated limestone banks
\n. This particular area, long identified by geologists, is known as the “Canon coast”. It extends over 300 hectares and benefits from the Canon-Fronsac appellation. Ch\u00e2teau Vrai Canon Bouch\u00e9 is located on the high plateau of the village of Fronsac. <\/p>\n

CHATEAU VRAI CANON BOUCHE 2010 CANON FRONSAC<\/strong>
\nGRAPE VARIETIES: 90% Merlot, 8% Cabernet Franc, 2% Malbec
\nAverage age of vines 40 years – Yields: 18 hl\/ha
\nVINEYARD: located on the south-facing tertre de canon resting on a bedrock of asteriated limestone with a 30-40 cm layer of decarbonated clay on the surface.
\nVINIFICATION: Hand-picked in crates.
\nDe-stemming, manual sorting table. Slow fermentation between 27\u00b0C and 30\u00b0C with indigenous yeasts. Post-fermentation maceration for 15 to 20 days. Malolactic fermentation in new barrels.
\nAGEING: 12 months in barrels, 70% new and 30% single-vineyard.
\nTASTING: A very opulent nose with notes of cherries and ripe red fruit. Hints of oak mingle with mineral notes. The attack is supple and shimmering, with the full range of fruit flavors
\nsuch as candied cherry and blackcurrant. Toasty flavors combine with hints of gunflint. A wine of great aromatic concentration, underpinned by a mineral salinity that gives the whole a unique breed and distinction.
\nCellaring potential: 8\/10 years
\nSERVE AT 18\u00b0C with a fine piece of meat or game.
