Like gold and metallic survival blankets, the invitation to the Issey Miyake<\/strong> Menswear show already gave a glimpse of what to expect from the Fall Winter 2013\/2014 collection.<\/p>\n

The show opens with the use of thick surplus materials and fabrics recycled from old collections using the Sakiori method.<\/p>\n

At the heart of the Issey Miyake<\/strong> Menswear collection is, as the name suggests, “mobility and winter wisdom”. Always faithful to the Japanese traditions and craftsmanship he infuses into his collections, the designer remains no less modern, combining the two to create a line of intelligent, technological garments. <\/p>\n

Tradition and pragmatism are thus blended in a collection that emphasizes comfort (the preservation of human warmth is one of the collection’s key concepts) as well as the aesthetics and technical prowess so dear to Issey Miyake<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Quilted, a guarantee of comfort bordering on cocooning, but also of protection against extreme temperatures and climates, it is here lined to allow minimum heat loss. For Issey Miyake, this trend for next winter is not just about decoration. <\/p>\n

Dark tones such as gray and navy blue, the show moves on to brighter, more intense colors such as blue, red and violet, as well as the famous metallic tones effectively inspired by survival blankets, found here in gold, silver and bronze on materials worked to be ultra-light.<\/p>\n\n
