Chapal is a French, family-run company now in its 6th generation. What sets this brand apart is that it has no boutiques in France. <\/p>\n

Tanners of rabbit skins, they own 3 factories in the U.S. (they designed the uniforms worn by U.S. Army pilots, as well as the helmet worn by Lindbergh on his famous Atlantic crossing), 1 in France and 1 in the UK. The tannery and all design and manufacturing processes are carried out in the Creuse region*. <\/p>\n

These are primarily men’s collections, but the company has tended to reposition itself on more mixed cuts, keeping a masculine spirit, but it’s no problem to find bags with feminine cuts.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
These garments are inspired by the spirit of aviators, all in leather or sheepskin. The company’s aim is to dress from head to toe. <\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Of particular note are the leather mosaic clutches, which for me remain the house’s signature pieces.<\/p>\n\n
