A fashion week wrap-up, Lie Sang Bong remains one of the designers whose shows I wouldn’t miss for the world. Indeed, the Korean had already astonished and won me over last season with his inspired creations, proof of his unparalleled know-how. <\/p>\n
With a butterfly theme this time for Lie Sang Bong, rebirth is at the heart of the collection. Here, the designer sought to express his nostalgia for his childhood and the 60s. He sets the tone with ensembles adorned with multicolored butterflies. Dresses, trenches, skirts and shirts are all featured, and the models look as if they’ve stepped straight out of an account, surrounded by a myriad of butterflies that seem almost magical. <\/p>\n
Lie Sang Bong is all about color, and color-blocking is the order of the day. Bright reds, tangy greens, perfect cerulean blues – it’s not just in the palette that the Korean impresses. Prints? Houndstooth is revisited, deconstructed and reshaped in highly elegant outfits (ruffled skirts or omnipresent “peplum skirts”) a little like Issy Miyake. Volumes: they’re everywhere, sometimes close to the body, sometimes fanciful and unbelievable (see the dresses adorned with real 3D butterflies), it’s clear that the designer is having fun. <\/p>\n
And he makes us understand this through his sublime finale where the model who leads the way appears as if magically under a blue neon umbrella to the sound of rain, followed by the rest dressed in transparent trenches adorned with butterflies. And it’s indeed with great nostalgia that we applaud this fashion show, which brings this surprising spring-summer 2013 season to a close. See you in January! <\/p>\n\n\t\t
