Like every year, it’s always a pleasure to be back at the Maison de l’Am\u00e9rique Latine, where the Relay prize is now usually awarded.
\nChaired by Marc Feuill\u00e9e, General Manager of Le Figaro, the Relay travelers’ prize was awarded on Thursday June 28 to Antoine Laurain for Le chapeau de Mitterrand (Flammarion). In addition to the ten personalities from the world of travel and culture who make up the Relay prize jury each year, travelers were invited, for the second year running, to give their opinion on the four books in the running. More than 10,000 people voted, giving the most popular candidate a double vote.

\nUnfortunately, the lucky winner had not yet arrived when the prize was announced. A few moments later, he arrived, visibly delighted, and took his place at a small table, where he proceeded to sign autographs. We enjoy a cocktail and sip a glass of champagne as we stroll through the magnificent garden.A few words about the book’s pitch… Daniel, deputy CFO of an unspecified company, languishes in his Parisian headquarters. Fanny, in love with a married man, wonders about her future. Pierre, a famous “nose”, is struggling for inspiration, while Bernard is suffocating under the weight of family traditions… Each in his own way, each for his own reasons, the characters in Antoine Laurain’s novel are all at an impasse. The magic wand that will transform their lives comes in the form of a large black felt-tip pen: the “Mitterrand hat”.
